Krimovica combines a protected coastal landscape with nature and water activities, as well as churches in the village and nearby. Three questions are particularly helpful when planning: Which side of Platamuni would you like to explore, which activities might suit you, and where are the specific points of reference for your stay?
Platamuni: Coast and Protected Habitats
The protected Platamuni area includes Krimovica and extends from PloÄŤe Beach to Cape Platamuni. It covers 1,087 hectares. The nature park is described as an area with diverse wildlife and a distinctive coastal landscape. Protected Posidonia oceanica seagrass is found in the Platamuni area that includes Krimovica. Protected terrestrial habitats include Euphorbia dendroides and endemic Limonium species. The coastal zone of Platamuni near Krimovica also features cliffs, pebble beaches and sea caves. Marine habitats, distinctive plants and striking coastal formations can thus be found side by side.
Activities to consider in Platamuni include diving, swimming, kayaking, wildlife watching, coastal recreation, hiking and enjoying nature. However, what is possible at a particular coastal location depends on the conditions and local access. Underwater archaeology is also of interest in the area: its underwater archaeological sites offer opportunities to explore and are of interest to divers and history enthusiasts. Access may require local permission or suitable conditions.
For guidance on access, it is important to know that Platamuni is considered easiest to reach by boat. Budva has the nearest marina; Bigova has a small pier at the entrance to the park. As access infrastructure can change, check current options before planning a specific trip.
Churches in and Near Krimovica
The Church of Saint Archdeacon Stefan stands in Krimovica. Following the 1979 earthquake, it was rebuilt with expert support from the Regional Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments in Kotor. Another church is located near Krimovica: the Church of Saint Nicholas stands on a rock 15 metres high in the sea and is dedicated to the patron saint of sailors and travellers. The two churches offer different points of interest—one is associated with reconstruction after the earthquake, while the other is notable for its position on a rock off the coast.
Coastal Activities and Your Stay
Activities listed at PloÄŤe Beach include jet skiing, stand-up paddleboarding, beach volleyball, table tennis and an outdoor fitness area. Activities and facilities may be seasonal. In the sea near Sea Glamping in Krimovica, options include kayaking, diving, fishing and boat trips; the availability of individual services may depend on local providers and conditions.
Sea Glamping is located in Krimovica. The resort entrance is near Trsteno Beach and 3 kilometres from Jaz Beach. E-bikes can be rented directly at Sea Glamping for riding in the hills above Krimovica. Availability may change; check in advance if needed. A 2016 Budva transport plan listed seasonal line 10 between Budva and Krimovica, via Jaz and Trsteno. Before travelling, check whether the service is currently running and which timetable applies.
Kotor as the Broader Landscape Context
In the broader destination of Kotor, the natural and cultural-historical region of Kotor lies on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast and in the Bay of Kotor. It covers 14,600 hectares and includes two interconnected bays surrounded by mountains that rise rapidly to almost 1,500 metres. The region combines settlements, palaces and monastic complexes with cultivated terraces on the slopes of high, rocky hills. The 10-kilometre Kotor–Krstac–Njeguši trail is part of Kotor’s local mountain trail network as a separate hiking route. It was approved in 2020; check local conditions before setting out.
