Jaz is best known for its two-part pebble beach. Two other specific points are useful when planning a visit: its approximate distance from Budva and the facilities in the shaded hinterland. Together, these features help distinguish the beach’s character, the area’s location, and its practical amenities.

Beach sections and surface

The two beach sections are approximately 800 and 400 meters long, and the total area is around 22,500 square meters. The beach surface is pebbly, while the seabed is sandy. The approximate lengths show the difference between the sections; the nature of the seabed adds another distinct feature to this comparison of their size. If you are considering Jaz for your trip because of its beach, these measurements and differences in ground conditions provide useful points of reference.

Location and practical orientation

Jaz is about 2.5 kilometers from Budva, in the direction of Kotor and Tivat. This gives you a general sense of location when choosing a hotel for a trip to Jaz. Consider whether Jaz or Budva is the preferred base for your stay, and compare the specific location of an accommodation option with your plans.

The shaded hinterland of Jaz has a campsite, parking, several restaurants, and cafés. Individual businesses and facilities may change; if a particular amenity is important to you, check its availability in advance.

Kotor as the wider destination

The wider destination of Kotor includes a natural and cultural landscape region in the Bay of Kotor on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast. It covers 14,600 hectares and includes two interconnected bays. The surrounding mountains rise rapidly to almost 1,500 meters. The landscape includes fortified and open towns, settlements, palaces, and monastery complexes, as well as cultivated terraces on the slopes of high, rocky hills.

Kotor is an authentically preserved small town whose urban planning is integrated into the landscape. The most important monuments and historic urban areas of the natural and cultural landscape region were carefully restored and reconstructed under UNESCO’s auspices after the 1979 earthquake. These features give the wider destination its own historical and landscape context.

Cultural events in Kotor also vary in character: the traditional Winter Carnival takes place every year in February. The central public celebration of Saint Tryphon, patron saint of Kotor and the Diocese of Kotor, is considered the only surviving medieval religious urban event in present-day Montenegro. Since 2002, KotorArt has focused on artistic music and, since 2009, has also encompassed many other art forms.

In Perast, the town museum preserves extensive archival material on the town’s history dating from the mid-15th century onward. It is housed in Captain Vicko Bujović’s palace, built in 1694. The original collection of the Maritime Museum of Montenegro in Kotor was opened to the public in 1900.
