Kolašin offers year-round travel opportunities, with specific options for winter sports, cycling and culture. The ski resort, varied cycling routes and historic sites each offer a different focus; you can also travel by train, bus or car. This lets you tailor your trip to whether you mainly want to spend time outdoors or explore the town’s history.

Winter sports and activities in different seasons

The Kolašin 1600 ski resort is located at an altitude of 1,600 metres. Its slopes are suitable for beginners as well as advanced skiers. In addition to skiing, activities there include snowboarding, sledging, hiking and snowmobiling. The winter activities associated with Kolašin and the Bjelasica Mountains also include snowshoeing and winter hiking. This offers a range of cold-weather activities, not just downhill skiing.

Kolašin is considered a year-round destination: its seasonal offerings range from summer hiking to winter skiing and include nature-based recreation. The warmer months therefore offer different options from a winter stay; the activities mentioned can help you plan your trip around the season.

Cycling routes and rafting

The cycling routes differ in surface and difficulty rating. The Šljivovica route is 11.5 kilometres long and classified as a moderate fireroad route. The Barutana route uses macadam and singletrack and is rated difficult. These details provide different points of comparison when choosing a route: for Šljivovica, the length and moderate rating are given, while for Barutana, the surface and higher difficulty are specified.

Rafting trips on the Tara River can be arranged for one day or several days; local tourism agencies are one option for organising them. The possible duration therefore ranges from a single outing to a multi-day trip. Cycling and rafting add two more ways to spend time outdoors to the seasonal activities on offer.

Museum and historic sites

The museum is located in the centre of Kolašin. It features historical and ethnographic exhibitions as well as a collection of paintings. The Old Turkish Town marks the site where Ali Pasha Čengić had the fortified town of Kolašin built in 1651. The museum’s collections and this specific historical connection to the town can therefore be explored as distinct cultural themes.

Barutana is a historic gunpowder mill on Vinića Hill, built in the second half of the 19th century. From Barutana, you can enjoy views of Kolašin, the Tara River and the surrounding area. The site thus combines its architectural history with views of the town and landscape.

Landscape, getting there and finding accommodation

Nearby, Lake Biogradsko lies within Biogradska Gora National Park. The national park has hiking trails and outdoor activities. Another local speciality is Lisnati cheese from Kolašin, which has protected status for its quality. These themes add to the options for combining outdoor activities, local history and regional specialities.

Kolašin can be reached by train, bus or car. The Belgrade–Bar railway serves the town; the railway station is 1.5 kilometres from the town. If you are travelling by train, you can take this distance into account when planning your journey from the station. Check the timetable before departure.
