Andrijevica lies at the confluence of the Zlorečica and Lim. The municipality is surrounded by the Komovi, Bjelasica and Prokletije mountain ranges. Rivers and mountains offer different perspectives on the area: fishing is one of the outdoor activities, along with hiking and cycling.

The peaks of Komovi

The highest peaks of Komovi are Vasojevićki Kom at 2,461 m, Kučki Kom at 2,487 m and Ljevorečki Kom at 2,463 m. Of these three, Kučki Kom is the highest. Part of the Komovi massif within the municipality of Andrijevica is protected as a natural asset of local importance and classified as a Category II protected area. If you are planning an excursion in this area, check the current management rules separately.

Hiking, cycling and rivers

Andrijevica has more than 100 km of marked hiking trails. The long-distance trail CT-1 also passes through the area. The stated length of the hiking trails may change as routes are maintained or extended; check the latest route information before setting out. There are also more than 190 km of cycling routes. A high-quality waymarking system identifies these routes, and route descriptions cover difficulty and conditions. Hiking and cycling thus offer different ways to explore the area: when planning, consider both the route and its description.

The rivers also play a special role in outdoor activities. Most of the Lim and its tributaries within the municipality of Andrijevica are reserved exclusively for fly fishing on a catch-and-release basis. The fly-fishing zone covers the entire course of the Kuckaja and Zlorečica, as well as five kilometres of the Lim downstream of their confluence. Check the rules in force locally before your visit. Other outdoor activities include rafting and paragliding. For paragliding, have the launch conditions, access and provider confirmed in advance by a qualified professional.

Memorial sites and archaeological traces

Monuments in Knjaževac Memorial Park commemorate fighters and victims of the Balkan Wars, the First and Second World Wars, and the conflicts of the 1990s. The park also commemorates the fallen fighters of the regional Upper Vasojevići Brigade in the Balkan Wars and the First World War. The Church of St. Michael the Archangel provides another historical reference: construction began in 1887, after Prince Nikola laid the foundation stone and donated money for the building.

In Namastir are remains believed to belong to the oldest church in the Polimlje region. Archaeological excavations there uncovered ceramic finds from the Bronze Age and Late Antiquity. The finds point to two distinct periods, while the cautious attribution of the church remains stands.

Vasojević cuisine and practical information

Vasojević cuisine, associated with Andrijevica, includes lamb, kačamak, cheese and yoghurt, served with jardum. If regional cuisine is important to your travel plans, these specialities can be a useful guide. Restaurant offerings and menus may change, so check directly for current options.

Bus routes connect Andrijevica with all the towns in the surrounding region. As services may change, check the latest timetables before travelling. This lets you plan your journey around your interests in the area—whether you are especially interested in hiking and cycling routes, rivers, memorial sites or local cuisine.
