Astici combines views of Lake Rāzna with an archaeological cultural monument and a specific cycling option. These different highlights can help you decide what you want your stay to focus on: the landscape by the beach, cultural heritage or cycling.

Beach and Lake Rāzna

By water surface area, Lake Rāzna is Latvia’s second-largest lake. From Astici beach, you can look out over Lake Rāzna and its ten islands, which have a combined area of 24.6 hectares. The ranking explicitly refers to water surface area; it makes the lake’s size comparable, while the islands add a distinctive detail to the view from the beach.

The beach has a pontoon pier, a changing cabin and a rest area with benches and sun loungers. For a break by the shore, the changing cabin and seating area are particularly practical. Check the current condition of the facilities before your visit.

The Rāzna natural area

Rāzna National Park was established to protect the natural assets of Lake Rāzna and the surrounding areas. It is a Natura 2000 site and also includes Kaunatas pagasts. In Astici, the “Rāznas gulbis” recreation complex is located within the national park. This brings together the regional conservation remit for the lake and its surroundings and a specific local connection to the park area.

Cultural monument and cycling

Astici medieval cemetery is included in Latvia’s state register of protected cultural monuments as an archaeological monument of regional importance. An official announcement about it was published in 2023. This classification adds archaeological heritage to the area’s landscape appeal. If you choose a destination for more than its natural features, you can take the cemetery into account as a cultural point of interest.

Cycling is another option: there is a bicycle rental outlet in Selena, Astici, on the “Lūznava–Rāzna ezers” cycling route (No. 784). If you include this route in your plans, you can use the rental outlet as a specific point of reference.
