Rangdu comes to life through two rituals: the Kirab Tumpeng Sega Kuning centres on a procession and communal gratitude for the harvest; Ider Desa, also known as Ider Bumi, is a regular walking circuit around the village. The customs also differ in their timing: the Kirab is associated with a specific date in 2026, while Ider Bumi follows the traditional calendar day of Friday Kliwon.

Kirab Tumpeng Sega Kuning: Procession and Harvest Thanksgiving

The annual Kirab Tumpeng Sega Kuning was held in Rangdu on 6 May 2026. It is part of the Mapag Sri ritual and expresses the local community’s collective gratitude to God for abundant harvests and the village’s blessings.

During the procession on 6 May, the group walked from the village head’s residence to the Pendopo Kantor Desa Rangdu, the centre of the ceremony. To conclude the thanksgiving celebration, the Rangdu village administration held a Wayang Kulit performance. These locations reflect the course of the celebration: from the village head’s residence to the ceremonial centre, and finally to the performance.

Ider Bumi: A Walk on Friday Kliwon

Unlike the Kirab, which has a specific date, Ider Desa, also known as Ider Bumi, takes place regularly every Friday Kliwon. The walking route goes around Rangdu village. Before it begins, residents usually gather at the village head’s residence for a Musyawarah hulu. The communal preparations and the walk that follows are therefore among the described parts of the ritual.

Culture in the wider Subang destination

In the wider Subang destination, the Museum Kabupaten Subang offers another way to explore history and culture. It is used for study visits, and museum guides provide detailed information about historical objects. A theatre hall is used to present the culture and history of Kabupaten Subang, and the museum also has a 3D collection. Guided explanations of objects, as well as cultural and historical topics, are therefore central to the museum.

In the wider Subang destination, Desa Wisata Cibuluh also offers cultural experiences focused on Sundanese culture, agriculture and the river. The Monumen Perjuangan 45 in Desa Cibuluh commemorates a 1946 battle between Siliwangi troops and Dutch soldiers.

Landscapes and activities in Subang

The natural destinations in the wider Subang destination also differ in their landscapes. Tangkuban Perahu is an active mountain with a series of craters; it is about four kilometres from the entrance to the crater area. Mountains, rice fields, tea gardens and flowing water shape the scenery at Curug Cijalu.

Curug Cileat offers a different experience: the waterfall is about 100 metres high, and two paths lead to it. One passes through densely vegetated forest, while the other goes through rice fields. The two approaches therefore differ mainly in their surroundings. As trail conditions may change, check them before visiting.

For an outdoor stay, Bumi Perkemahan Pamoyanan in the wider Subang destination is described as a campsite at an elevation of about 1,000 metres, with sunrise and cloud panoramas. Wisata Alam Capolaga offers camping and outdoor activities by the river; visitors can hike at Bukit Rindu Ciater. The options therefore offer different experiences: high-altitude panoramas and camping, activities by the river, or hiking.
