Bandung offers several ways to explore the city: museums tell stories of nature, culture and history, historic streets leave their mark, and parks combine relaxation with urban life. When planning your time, you can prioritize these themes according to your interests instead of turning the sights into one fixed itinerary.

Museums with different perspectives

The Museum Negeri Provinsi Jawa Barat Sri Baduga focuses on the natural and cultural history of West Java. The museum preserves more than 6,000 artifacts and presents West Java’s natural history, traditional culture and social history from prehistoric times to the modern era. Its visitors include school students, researchers, and local and international travelers.

The Monumen Perjuangan Rakyat Jawa Barat combines the functions of a monument and a museum. It presents historical documentation, artifacts from the struggle for independence, and accounts of important events in West Java; it has also developed into a center for history education. The Museum Konperensi Asia Afrika has a different focus: it serves education, documentation and reflection on the history of international relations.

At the Museum Geologi, the public, school students, researchers and travelers can learn about the history of the Earth, the geology of Indonesia and natural resources. Geology lessons and public education and outreach complement this role. The museums therefore differ clearly in their subject matter: from West Java’s natural and cultural history to the struggle for independence, international relations, geology and the history of the Earth.

Historic streets and public urban spaces

Jalan Asia-Afrika is a historic street known as a destination and photo spot; Bandung’s kilometer-zero point is also located there. During the Dutch colonial period, Jalan Braga served as a main street and the city’s fashion center. Its classic buildings offer visitors photo opportunities. The two streets thus represent different aspects of the city’s history.

The garden around Gedung Sate is more than a green space: as a public space, it is used for relaxation and gatherings, as well as national celebrations and cultural activities. Alun-Alun Bandung has an area fitted with artificial turf and a play area for children. As these physical features may change with future renovations, it is a good idea to check the current situation before visiting.

Parks and cultural experiences

The parks offer different reasons to spend time outdoors. Taman Vanda features water fountain shows during the day and at night; operating and physical features may change. At Taman Sejarah, visitors can relax while learning about Bandung’s history and important figures from the city. Taman Lansia is not reserved exclusively for older people, but is open to visitors of all groups.

Saung Angklung Udjo is dedicated to preserving Sundanese art and culture. The center offers angklung performances and educational programs, and works to develop traditional culture. The performance includes children’s games and an interactive angklung segment in which visitors can play themselves. For a culinary touch, Ceu Mar is a buffet-style warung serving a variety of Sundanese dishes.

Getting around Bandung

The routes for the Bandung Tour On Bus tourist bus, known as Bandros, are determined based on a study to ensure they pass through tourist areas or attractions within the city.

One described route to Gedung Sate from Bandung station involves taking an angkot: After a short walk to Jalan Kebon Kawung or Jalan Otto Iskandar Dinata, take an angkot that travels along Jalan Diponegoro and get off near the government building. Public transport routes may change, so check the current route before setting off.
