In Jember, a variety of discoveries come together: Arjasa is known for batik, archaeological remains, and local cuisine; tea fields and plantations shape the landscape on the slopes of Argopuro. In Meru Betiri National Park, the focus is on a protected natural landscape and the sea turtles of Sukamade. Depending on your interests, you can get to know Jember through its culture, landscapes, or wildlife watching.

Culture and Traditions in Arjasa

Desa Adat Wisata Arjasa offers flexible packages for one day, three days, or a week. They are designed for families, groups, and travelers with particular interests. The visitor program also includes a cooking class featuring Sayur Gudug, a traditional regional dish. The program concludes with a performance of the traditional art of Ta’ Butha’an.

At Galeri Batik Silabango, you can watch the making of batik typical of Arjasa and buy batik products as souvenirs. Situs Duplang in Desa Kamal, Arjasa, offers a different way to explore history. Archaeological remains such as menhirs, Watu Kenong, and dolmens have been preserved there. The site is presented as an Edu-Wisata, where students can learn about history at the site itself.

The natural spring Sendang Tirta Amertha Rajasa is also associated with historical and spiritual values, as well as traditional cultural stories. Those interested in the importance of tobacco in Kabupaten Jember can visit Museum Lembaga Tembakau Jember, a themed museum and information and education center on the subject.

Tea Fields, Plantations, and Waterfalls

Agrowisata Gunung Gambir lies on the slopes of the Argopuro Mountains at an elevation of about 900 meters. Green tea fields and panoramic views of the hills define the landscape. The site’s history as a Dutch tea farm dates back to 1918. Agrowisata Boma Gunung Pasang offers a different view of the Argopuro slopes: it is set amid rubber and coffee plantations.

Air Terjun Tancak, an 82-meter-high waterfall surrounded by unspoiled, refreshing natural scenery, is also located at the foot of Gunung Pasang. On the way there, you can catch a glimpse of the coffee gardens of Gunung Pasang. Water and rural surroundings also define Pemandian Patemon: this bathing spot is surrounded by clear water from mountain springs, green trees, and cool country air. It has swimming pools for adults and children. Information dated March 20, 2026, lists daily opening hours of 07:00 to 17:00 WIB; check the hours before your visit.

Nature and Coast in Meru Betiri National Park

Meru Betiri National Park is a protected natural landscape that extends across Kabupaten Jember and Kabupaten Banyuwangi. Endangered sea turtle species nest at Sukamade Beach in the park, including leatherback, hawksbill, loggerhead, and green sea turtles. Visitors can watch sea turtles laying their eggs there at night. Since local conservation conditions may vary, find out in advance about the conditions for this nature visit.

The road route to the park’s western entrance is listed as Jember–Ambulu–Curahnongko–Bandealit, covering about 59 kilometers and taking approximately three and a half hours. Check current road conditions before setting out. This allows you to plan this part of the trip using the approximate route, while making the landscape and wildlife watching your own focus.
