Jászboldogháza brings together a distinctive local culture of remembrance, nature and the Strandfürdő. Three statues of Szent Vendel, the Tájház and a memorial to the 1963 flood provide tangible points of reference for the town’s history. The Jász Visitor Centre shares knowledge about a large proportion of Jászboldogháza’s living creatures; various habitats can be found in the surrounding area. This gives you different options when planning your trip: local history, nature or swimming.

Szent Vendel and Local Remembrance

Jászboldogháza is the only place in the Jászság with three statues of Szent Vendel. The community regards Szent Vendel as its most important patron saint. Local commemorations include a Mass on 20 October, Vendel Day, and the laying of wreaths at the statue sites; candles are lit on All Souls’ Day. The statues are therefore at the heart of a distinctive religious tradition in the town.

Tájház, Church and Local History

The Tájház on Alkotmány utca was completed in 2006 for the 12th Jász World Meeting. The event was held in Jászboldogháza and coincided with the 60th anniversary of the town’s independence. Members of the Ezüstkor Nyugdíjas Egyesület furnished the rooms in a period-appropriate style with household items preserved and donated by residents. This historical perspective includes both objects from local everyday life and the occasion for which the institution was completed.

An exhibition on church history includes objects, vestments and photographs from demolished chapels on the farmsteads. It also features historical documents, mostly concerning the construction of these chapels and the church. Construction of the parish church began in 1929 and was completed in 1930, during the tenure of parish priest Dr. Kele István. There is also a memorial to the war victims of Jászboldogháza on Rákóczi utca, between the church and the mayor’s office.

Commemorating the 1963 Flood

At the end of Alkotmány utca, a memorial commemorates more than a hundred farmsteads destroyed in the March 1963 flood in the Csíkos and Tápió farmstead areas. It also remembers the people involved in the rescue work. The boat on display there was used during the flood to rescue people, animals and other goods. The memorial thus connects the memory of the destruction with the rescue efforts.

Nature and the Strandfürdő

The Jász Visitor Centre uses interactive games to share knowledge with children and adults about a large proportion of Jászboldogháza’s living creatures. Wetland, woodland and meadow habitats can be found near the visitor centre and beside the Strandfürdő and campsite; the surrounding landscape is agricultural. Those interested in the area’s nature will find a different focus here from that of the historical exhibitions and memorials.

The Strandfürdő in Jászboldogháza has three pools: a large pool with a taut water surface, a children’s pool and a 32 °C sitting pool. Two pools have been renovated. As the pool configuration may change, check the current facilities before your visit.

Plan Your Holiday Rental and Stay

When looking for a holiday rental in Jászboldogháza, you can first consider which themes you would like to shape your stay. The Tájház, church and memorial sites offer a focus on local history; visitors interested in nature can explore the visitor centre and the habitats described here. The Strandfürdő adds swimming to the mix. This overview can help you plan your trip without requiring you to combine the different themes into a fixed route.
