An elaborately carved gate in the churchyard and cycling opportunities along the levee showcase two distinctive aspects of Győrzámoly: local culture and the landscape along the Mosoni-Duna. A rare floodplain forest and the Remencei Duna-ág also feature among the natural attractions. When planning your stay, you can focus on culture, cycling or nature, and explore these as different facets of the village.

Székely Gate and Village Museum

The elaborately carved Székely Gate forms the symbolic entrance to the churchyard. It was erected in 2000 to mark the tenth anniversary of the partnership between Győrzámoly and Székelyszentkirály. Its design is therefore linked to a specific occasion in the relationship between the two places. A village museum is also one of the local attractions. The gate and museum offer two distinct cultural points of interest: one is a decorative landmark in the churchyard, while the other is a museum in the village.

Floodplain Forest, Duna-ág and Reed Beds

The Zámolyi tölös is a very rare hardwood floodplain forest; its tree species include oaks, ash trees and elms. The Remencei Duna-ág is one of Győrzámoly’s natural assets. Lajma is the largest reed bed in the Lower Szigetköz. These landscape features are distinct: the Zámolyi tölös represents a rare hardwood floodplain forest, the Remencei Duna-ág a local watercourse, and Lajma a reed bed identified with the region. If you plan your trip around landscape features, you can distinguish between the floodplain forest, watercourse and reed bed, and appreciate the three natural environments separately.

Cycling in Győrzámoly

In Győrzámoly, you can cycle on a designated cycle path and along the levee beside the Mosoni-Duna. A cycling tour through the Szigetköz follows the paved levee to Győrzámoly, where it connects to the Szigetközi cycle route. These offer two perspectives for your planning: cycling on the routes mentioned in the village, or taking a tour through the Szigetköz with Győrzámoly as your destination and connecting to the Szigetközi cycle route. Before setting off, check the route conditions and signage, as both can change.
