If you would like to combine aquatic experiences with a look at local architecture, you can find both in Harkány. The thermal waters, the different areas of Harka Vízivilág and the cultural landmarks each offer their own focus for your stay.

Thermal Waters and Aquatic Experiences

Harkány’s thermal waters rise to the surface from a depth of 50–70 metres at an average temperature of 62 °C. They contain more than 1,000 milligrams of minerals per litre.

At Harka Vízivilág, the facilities offer different kinds of aquatic experiences: a current channel, a bubbling pool and a family slide are joined by the yellow and blue Turbó I–II slides, which lead into the pool. There is also a diving tower and a climbing wall. You can choose an area based on whether you would rather slide, play in the water, climb or jump.

Indoor Children’s Pools and Outdoor Pool

The indoor Fedett Gyermekvilág has two modern children’s pools with water features. The paddling pool has a waterfall and a treasure cave. The 50-centimetre-deep pool for older children is equipped with a pirate ship slide and a water cannon. These details make the two pools easy to distinguish: one is designed as a paddling area, while the other is described as being for older children.

Individual facility details may change, so check the operator’s latest information before your visit.

The spacious, two-part outdoor pool at Harka Vízivilág has several swimming lanes as well as built-in seating and reclining benches. Swimming and relaxation are therefore available side by side: the lanes provide space for swimming sessions, while the benches are for unwinding, chatting and taking a break. Planning your visit around these different uses can help you decide which area matters most to you.

Reformed Churches and a Work of Art

The town’s architectural history can also be explored through specific landmarks. The Reformed Church on Kossuth Lajos Street was built in 1802 in the late Baroque Copf style. The Reformed Church in the Terehegy district dates from 1798 and is a protected monument. The two dates place the buildings in their historical context; the Copf style also describes a distinctive architectural feature of the church on Kossuth Lajos Street.

The artwork Millenniumi Országalmás represents another form of cultural heritage. It was unveiled in 2000. Porcelain images in the style of the initials in medieval codices run across the globe. This reference to richly decorated book openings connects the work with an older visual tradition, while the porcelain motif gives it its own artistic character. In the wider travel destination of Baranya, the Early Christian Necropolis of Sopianae in Pécs includes 4th-century burial sites, laid out as underground tomb chambers with above-ground memorial chapels.
