Agia Triada is on the road between Corfu and Pelekas. Pelekas is two kilometres away and is known for its views of the sunset. This places the village in relation to a specific road connection and a nearby destination.

Agia Triada and its surroundings

Agia Triada is considered a residential area without tourist development. From here, routes lead to the beaches of Kontogialos, Glyfada and Myrtiotissa. These are distinct points of reference when choosing where to stay: the residential character applies to Agia Triada, the well-known sunset views to Pelekas, and the beaches are destinations reached from Agia Triada.

When comparing accommodation, you can factor these local characteristics into your plans and distinguish between where you stay, a viewpoint and beach destinations. Pelekas is the named reference point for sunset views; the three beaches are destinations along the route described from Agia Triada.

Corfu in the wider picture: Old Town and museums

The wider destination of Corfu also offers cultural and natural attractions. Corfu Old Town has preserved almost all of its historic urban fabric; its buildings date from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Together with the two fortresses, the Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A digital guide to the Old Town, described in 2023, is aimed at residents and visitors and offers high-quality audiovisual material on more than 80 sights within the city. Check whether the guide is available before your trip. The Museum of Asian Art is also located in the Old Town. Its collection comprises more than 11,000 objects from China, Japan, India, the Himalayas and Central Asia. From Corfu Port, the museum can be reached on bus line 2, on the Mantouki–Kanoni route; check the timetable before travelling.

The Kapodistrias Museum offers another perspective on history: its permanent exhibition explores the history of Corfu, Europe and Greece through the life of Greece’s first governor, using artefacts and documents. At the museum, a lush garden on a hill offers views of Corfu’s countryside and across the island. The exhibition and garden have different emphases: historical context through objects and documents, and views of the landscape.

Walking trails and events on Corfu

In the municipal unit of Achilleion, ancient paths wind through the wooded mountains of Agii Deka, Stavros and Garouna and are suitable for hiking. Another hiking option is the 180-kilometre Corfu Trail, which passes through several settlements. Benitses is one of its 13 overnight stops. This means the wider destination of Corfu offers both mountain trails and a route divided into several stages.

Cultural events are also part of this regional setting: numerous festivals and folk festivals, as well as municipal events, take place in the villages of the municipal unit of Achilleion. The programmes and dates of individual events vary.
