The Hurtwood Easier Access Route begins at Hurtwood Car Park 1 in Peaslake and leads to Converse, an accessible work of art. The route forms a loop just over 200 metres long and offers wide views across the Weald towards the South Downs. This lets you plan a short walk featuring outdoor art and scenic views. Parking and access conditions may change; check them before setting out.

Hiking between short loops and longer routes

For a longer hike, a route description from April 2023 describes Maggie's Walk 4 as a two-hour circular walk on Holmbury Hill. The route passes through woodland and along sandy paths to the site of an Iron Age hill fort. Check the route locally before setting off. The details clearly distinguish a short walk from a longer outing: the Hurtwood loop is just over 200 metres long, while Maggie's Walk 4 takes two hours.

A description of an organised hike on 3 May 2026 also mentions a 10 km circular route that starts in Peaslake Village and passes through farmyards to the woodland areas of Farley Heath.

The Weald and its trail landscapes

Holmbury Hill is a sandstone outcrop above the Weald, with views of the South Downs. The Peaslake to Farley Heath and Winterfold trail crosses sandstone, open farmland and sandy heathland, as well as woodland. It starts at Walking Bottom Car Park. The hilltop viewpoint and a route through open and wooded sections thus offer distinct landscape experiences. Parking conditions may change; check them before setting out.

Mountain biking on Holmbury Hill

The mountain bike trails on Holmbury Hill are named Barry Knows Best, Yoghurt Pots and Telegraph Row. Trail conditions and land-use rules may change, so check locally before riding.

Village history and historic sites

The Peaslake War Memorial stands in the centre of the village and is listed as a Grade II monument. It was unveiled in June 1921 as a memorial to the First World War and later extended to include additions relating to the Second World War. St Mark's Church is in the Peaslake Conservation Area. Holmbury Hill Fort is an Iron Age hill fort. Farley Heath is home to an enclosed Romano-Celtic sanctuary, which is a Scheduled Monument.

Village Fair and cuisine

The annual Peaslake Village Fair features stalls, games, food, entertainment, children's activities and prizes. As the exact date varies each year, check the date of the event you plan to attend.

The restaurant at the Hurtwood Inn serves Italian and English cuisine as well as seasonal specialities; the menu may change. The Hurtwood Inn sources its pasture-raised beef and lamb from Coverwood Farm in Peaslake; suppliers may change.
