Trusetal offers a variety of trails and cultural experiences: a signposted circular trail, an interactive sound trail, a mining trail and a lookout tower showcasing Romanesque architecture. The options differ in both length and focus, allowing you to choose according to your interests in landscape, sound, mining or history.
The Trusetal Landmarks Tour
The Trusetal Landmarks Tour is a circular trail starting at the Wasserfall car park. The route runs via the waterfall, the waterfall channel, a former ore mine, HĂĽbelsberg and Halbstein to the Zentrale and back to the starting point. The loop is marked with a blue 4; route information gives a distance of up to 4.7 km. In the forest above the former ore mine, it passes Halbstein, a geological natural monument. The loop can also be walked in the opposite direction; this way, you can take a detour to the Trusetal Sound Trail.
Experience Sound and Explore Mining History
The sound trail is an experience trail for children and adults of all ages. This circular route, about 900 m long, offers quiet spots to pause and linger. It is considerably shorter than the Landmarks Tour, for which route information gives a distance of up to 4.7 km; the two options therefore differ both in length and experience. On the sound trail, the sound of a giant xylophone blends with the rush of the Truse. Long metal pipes serve as drums; you can sit on them and feel their vibrations throughout your body.
The Trusetal Mining Trail leads from Steinbach via Laudenbach and Trusetal to Floh-Seligenthal. It teaches visitors about the minerals and ores found in the area, former mines and open-cast mines, and how the raw materials were processed and used in industry. The highlight is a visit to the “Hühn” visitor mine in Trusetal. Check current access arrangements in advance if you plan to visit.
Romanesque Architecture in Trusetal
Wallenburg Tower stands on the outskirts of Trusetal. It is a lookout tower and a monument to 13th-century Romanesque architecture, offering an architectural highlight distinct from the themed trails.
