Klein Wittensee lies directly on the shore of Lake Wittensee. The skating route runs through the village, and the municipality is one of the 21 municipalities in HĂĽttener Berge Nature Park. At the GlĂĽcksstĂĽck farm shop and bistro, you can buy meat from pigs raised outdoors on straw, along with other locally produced foods. Water, exercise and local production are therefore practical considerations when planning your trip.

Lake Wittensee and Sande

Lake Wittensee is up to 20 metres deep and was formed around 20,000 years ago by a tongue of glacial ice. Its depth and formation describe different aspects of the same body of water: its scale and the geological formation of the landscape.

There is a barbecue area with toilets in the Sande area. The bathing spot on the western shore near Sande is a place to get in the water and surf when the wind is from the west. Before surfing, check access and conditions.

Trails through the village and in the nature park

The skating route runs through Klein Wittensee on footpaths and cycle paths along the B 203. HĂĽttener Berge Nature Park has 20 signposted circular hiking trails and six cycling routes. The routes differ in layout: the skating route goes through the village, while the hiking trails are circular. This lets you choose between a route through Klein Wittensee, a circular hike and a signposted cycling tour.

There is also a marked 15-kilometre mountain bike route in Brekendorf Forest.
