Groß Offenseth-Aspern combines a rural character with the particular importance of agriculture and rose cultivation. The town is considered a green community with substantial woodland; extensive rose fields shape its landscape.

Rose Fields and Rural Character

The fields of the Kordes rose nursery extend across large parts of the municipality and shape the landscape. The rose in the municipal coat of arms also represents the rose nursery: it is therefore both a municipal symbol and part of the townscape.

Gut Aspern: History and Polo

Gut Aspern adds a historical and sporting dimension. The estate has existed since the 16th century. After 2005, it was extensively renovated and transformed into a modern equestrian sports centre in Germany. The estate’s long history and its subsequent reorientation towards equestrian sport form a clear chronological sequence.

The estate includes two full-size polo fields. The Polo Academy offers opportunities to try polo or learn to play professionally. If you are interested in this sport, check which activities are available before your trip. For travel planning, the different themes appeal to different interests: rose fields and woodland shape the town’s character, while Gut Aspern provides a direct connection to polo.

Himmelmoor in the wider Pinneberg destination

The Himmelmoor is located in the Pinneberg area, within the wider destination of Pinneberg. It covers around 600 hectares, is one of Schleswig-Holstein’s largest raised bogs, and has been designated a nature reserve since 2022; peat extraction ended in 2018. The landscape includes remnants of raised bog, bog woodland, fen areas, wet meadows, species-rich grassland, standing water and former peat extraction sites. Existing walking and riding trails have been preserved.

Six elevated viewpoints offer views across the bog. The former peat railway gives visitors an impression of the Himmelmoor from Easter to October. Check the railway’s seasonal availability before your trip.

Drosteipark is located just behind Pinneberg’s city centre and has walking paths and opportunities for sport and exercise. The Pinneberg Arboretum brings together the 26 “Trees of the Year”; the idea originated as part of the International Garden Show igs Hamburg 2013 in the Pinneberger Baumschulland exhibition area.

The Drostei is the cultural centre of the Pinneberg district and hosts exhibitions, concerts and literary events.
