Möschwitz lies between the White Elster to the west and Pöhl Dam to the east. When choosing a holiday apartment, this location offers two distinct points of reference: the Elster Valley, with its cycle route and historic three-sided farmstead, and the dam, with its climbing forest, golf course and sunbathing lawn. Each destination has its own appeal. You can plan your day around whether cycling, architectural history or an activity at the dam is your main interest.

The dam as a focal point

Several of the leisure destinations mentioned are located by the reservoir. The climbing forest at Pöhl Dam comprises the Oak, Larch, Birch and Maple courses, with a total of 80 elements. The four named courses give your visit a clearly defined focus; the figure of 80 refers to the elements overall. The Möschwitz car park is also useful for finding your way: it is the closest car park to the Pöhl climbing forest. As parking regulations can change, check them before your visit.

The golf course of Golfclub Talsperre Pöhl offers a different activity. It lies right by the dam, between the Vogtland towns of Voigtsgrün and Möschwitz. Golf is therefore another option to consider when planning your trip, alongside the climbing forest. There is also the Möschwitz sunbathing lawn at the dam, with a designated bathing area for dogs. If you are planning to bring a dog, this is an explicitly designated place for swimming; the sunbathing lawn and the golf course are, however, separate destinations, each with its own focus.

Cycling into the Elster Valley

A cycle path running alongside the road leads from the Gunzenberg campsite to Möschwitz. There, the route turns into the Elster Valley and soon reaches Lochbauernhof and the Elster Cycle Route. This means Möschwitz and the Elster Valley are connected by a described cycling route. If you would like to combine cycling with another destination, you can use the farmstead as a landmark along the way. Check route conditions before setting off, as they can change.

Lochbauernhof lies in the Elster Valley, not far from Möschwitz. The three-sided farmstead was built in 1648 in the Franconian architectural style and has been a listed monument since 1937. Its architectural history offers a cultural focus distinct from the leisure activities at the dam. The surrounding area thus offers different themes for planning your trip: the cycle route as a connection, the farmstead as a historic point of reference, and the dam with its named activities.

Visitor information in Möschwitz

There are two places in Möschwitz where visitors can get information. The reception at the Gunzenberg campsite, which also has a tourist information office, is at Hauptstraße 38. Another tourist information office is at the boat landing at Hauptstraße 48. The addresses therefore differ both by street number and by the location identified: the campsite reception at one, and the boat landing at the other. This can help you find your way around if you want to visit either location.

Möschwitz can therefore be explored through specific interests when choosing where to stay: the climbing forest, golf and sunbathing lawn are associated with the dam, while the cycle route and Lochbauernhof offer a different focus in the Elster Valley. Which of these options shapes your plans depends on what matters to you during your stay. The two tourist information offices and the car park closest to the climbing forest add clearly identified points of reference.
