Explore Kreba-Neudorf on foot or by bike along the Heimatgeschichte (Local History) Nature Discovery Trail. The trail passes through all the districts and the characteristic heathland and pond landscape of Upper Lusatia. Seven themed trails and a cycling route give the network its structure. The three circular routes total about 14 kilometres; their individual sections range from 3.5 to 5.5 kilometres. When choosing a route, consider both its length and theme: Would you like to connect districts, walk through a park or choose a cycling route?
Circular Routes Between Kreba and Neudorf
Circular Route 1 connects Kreba and Neudorf over 5.5 kilometres and follows five themed trails. It is signposted in both directions and can be explored in individual stages. This lets you cover the connection between the two districts in sections, rather than planning the entire circular route in one go.
Circular Route 2 is 3.5 kilometres long and passes through the castle park to the Kreba pond group. It is shorter than Circular Route 1 and makes the park and pond group the focus of your route choice. You can compare it with the Kreba–Neudorf connection as a shorter alternative.
Circular Route 3 is a five-kilometre cycling route connecting Kreba with Lache and Tschernske. So distance is not the only factor in choosing: Circular Route 2 is the shortest, Circular Route 1 links Kreba and Neudorf, and Circular Route 3 is designated as a cycling route.
Heathland, Nature and Village History
Kreba is known as a heathland village, with a park rich in trees and water, pond shores, forest paths edged by heathland, and a rich variety of animal and plant life. Interactive stations along the routes introduce local history, habitats and biodiversity to children and adults. The trail therefore combines walking through the heathland and pond landscape with nature and history.
In central Kreba, the “Gasthof zur Krone” rest and play area brings together art, village history and play. It is an addition to the nature and cycling routes if you want to include a stop in the village centre. At Neudorf village square, there is an accessible entrance, a book exchange station, bicycle racks and a table tennis table. Check the current condition of the facilities before your visit.
Parking and Public Transport
Parking is available at the Nature Discovery Trail entrances, in Kreba town centre and on Schmiedeweg in Kreba. As parking regulations can change, check the local situation on site.
Kreba and Neudorf are served daily by accessible bus route 70, with stops in both districts. As timetables can change, it is worth checking the latest times before travelling. In Mücka, connections are available to bus 501 and the RB64 towards Hoyerswerda, Niesky and Görlitz. Check the timetables for these connections too before setting off.
