During Radibor’s Easter riding procession, decorated riders carry the Easter message in a procession; Radibor also welcomes visiting processions from Storcha and Bautzen. Bilingual German-Sorbian place and street signs can be found in the Radibor area, reflecting the coexistence of the German and Sorbian communities. Together, these customs and visible bilingualism offer a tangible introduction to Sorbian culture. If you would like to see the procession, check the dates for your planned stay.

Sorbian Culture and Local History

The Sorbian Impressions Cycle Route also offers a way to discover Sorbian culture in Upper Lusatia. It provides a different perspective on the subject from local customs and bilingual signs. Radibor is considered a destination that you can explore on foot, by bicycle, or by car.

Churches and Castle Architecture

Radibor’s Catholic parish history dates back to the 13th century; a first chapel is mentioned around 1270. There are three Catholic churches in Radibor: the Old Parish Church, the Church of the Cross, and the New Parish Church. The Church of the Cross was built in 1397. Another historical highlight is Radibor Castle: the Baroque castle was built between 1709 and 1719 and has a four-wing layout that is rare in Saxony. Its architectural and ecclesiastical history thus spans the period from its medieval parish origins to the early 18th-century Baroque era.
