Explore Haselbachtal through a variety of experiences: the history of granite quarrying, the parkland of Bischheim and open-air theater. Other attractions include a historic four-sided farmstead, the Reichenau local history museum and the municipal Wiesengrund outdoor pool. Each offers a different focus. When planning your stay, you can decide whether industrial history, a stroll through the park, a guided tour or a theater performance will shape your visit.
Granite History in Häslich
The granite industry exhibition site and museum showcase machinery from the first half of the 20th century and document 200 years of granite industry history. The site also features a 1,100-meter-long educational trail around Kesselbruch. During the heyday of local granite quarrying and processing, up to 800 people worked in the quarries in Häslich. The former quarries later filled with water and developed into biotopes or small bathing lakes. Here, distinct periods come together: industrial use, its history and the subsequent transformation of the quarry sites.
Bischheim Park: Rococo, Water and Old Trees
Bischheim Park was created in the second half of the 18th century in the French Rococo style. It covers about 5.6 hectares, including 1.4 hectares of ponds. Around 1,000 trees grow in the park, many of them more than 200 years old. The recently gravelled footpaths are suitable for walking. As path conditions may change, check them before your visit.
The park has a landing stage for rowboats, with boat trips available on specific days. If you plan a trip, check the relevant dates in advance. A car park is also available for visitors. Alongside its historic design, the park offers practical ways to divide your time between paths, ponds and a boat trip.
Open-Air Theater and Historic Farmsteads
The Reichenau open-air stage is an outdoor theater with 650 seats in a former quarry. Open-air performances take place there from May to September. As the seasonal program may change, check current dates before your visit. The NaturbĂĽhne Reichenau-Pulsnitztal e.V. association was founded in 1992 by local theater practitioners and residents. The stage is considered an established part of the regional cultural scene and attracts around 6,000 to 9,000 visitors a year; the number may vary.
The designated car park for the open-air stage is on Gräfenhainer Straße, behind the bridge, about 300 meters from the stage. As parking regulations may change, check the current parking arrangements when planning your visit.
The Häslich four-sided farmstead is a protected historic estate. It remained in operation until 1973 and was listed as a historic monument in 1983. Groups can visit the farmstead on a guided tour, arranged in advance, to see agricultural tools and machinery. As availability may change, coordinate the date in advance. A light snack can also be arranged by prior agreement; ask about this service when planning your visit.
Local History Museum and Wiesengrund Outdoor Pool
The Reichenau local history museum is housed in a former poorhouse built in 1845. It offers basic accommodation for pilgrims on the Way of St. James. As overnight arrangements may change, check the options in advance.
The municipal Wiesengrund outdoor pool offers separate areas for swimmers and non-swimmers, a paddling pool, a water slide, volleyball facilities and sunbathing lawns. Camping with Finnish huts is also available. This adds leisure activities around the water to the historic and cultural attractions on offer.
