Warmbad combines the history of its healing spring with the Silber-Therme, the spa park and trails for a range of activities. The Warmbad spring was discovered at the end of the 14th century; its state-recognised healing water has been used for balneological purposes ever since. The first documented mention of the town dates from 9 May 1484 and refers to Warmbad as “warmbate zu wulkenstein”. These two historical reference points can be distinguished: the discovery concerns the spring and its use, while the year 1484 marks the documented mention of the town. This means you can choose Warmbad not only for its activities, but also for the historical context of its healing spring. Its balneological use therefore began before the town was first mentioned in a document.

Thermal Springs and the Silber-Therme

Saxony’s oldest and warmest healing spring bubbles up in Warmbad. The Silber-Therme offers bathing and relaxation in the mineral-rich thermal healing water of the 26.5 °C spring. Facilities include two indoor pools, an outdoor pool, a sauna area and the “Jungbrunnen” wellness area. The thermal baths therefore offer different ways to enjoy a stay centred on thermal water: pools, sauna and wellness.

Drinking fountains are available in the drinking pavilion in the spa park, which is open daily, and in the foyer of the Silber-Therme. If you would like to visit one of these drinking fountains, check the visitor information before travelling.

Trails and Activities

The trails can also be distinguished by their respective points of reference. The Upper Forest Ring is the third of nine hiking trails in the Warmbad Wolkenstein terrain trail network and is also suitable for Nordic walking and cycling. The Spa Trail connects the two Saxon thermal healing springs of Warmbad Wolkenstein and Thermalbad Wiesenbad. After crossing the river again, the “Mountain Stream and Thermal Water” route climbs towards the Warmbad spa centre.

The features that help you choose differ: for the Upper Forest Ring, they are its place in the trail network and the activities it accommodates; for the Spa Trail, the link between the two thermal springs; and for the “Mountain Stream and Thermal Water” route, its described course into the spa centre. This lets you choose trails according to what matters for your plans: the type of activity, the connection between thermal healing springs or the destination in the spa centre. The trail themes complement bathing with outdoor activities.

Marked bridleways are available in the “Brand” forest between Warmbad and Großolbersdorf. Horse riding is therefore also listed as a distinct outdoor activity.

Spa Park and Culture in Spring and Summer

Warmbad’s spa park includes a lake and a concert venue. Events held there in spring and summer include the spa park festival, an open-air folk music concert and an operetta festival. The seasonal programme therefore includes a festival as well as concert and festival events. If a concert or festival is important to your stay, take the season into account and check the specific event dates before travelling.
