Discover Aschersleben through its contemporary art, historic buildings and green belt around the old town. Culture, parks and bike rides offer different ways to shape your stay: you can explore the town’s history, encounter art in public spaces or set aside time to enjoy the greenery.

Townscape, Art and Early History

Cultural attractions include modern art, striking towers, a Romanesque hilltop castle and an unusually angled church. There is also a Masonic lodge temple: it is open to the public and is considered unique in Germany. The tourist pedestrian wayfinding system leads to notable buildings, towers and parks.

The Aschersleben DRIVE THRU GALLERY displays art outdoors along the main road through town. The works are intended for motorists to experience as they pass by. The exhibition at the Museum of Prehistory and Early History offers a different way to explore the past: it presents archaeological finds from Aschersleben and the surrounding area, from the Palaeolithic to the Iron Age.

Green Routes Through the Town

The landscaped parks and gardens stretch from the railway station to the Eine River, encircling the historic old town in a green belt. The five parks in the town centre and the promenade ring are part of the Garden Dreams – Historic Parks in Saxony-Anhalt network. Aschersleben’s parks and gardens are accessible to visitors with limited mobility; check the latest information before travelling.

The nature trail in the cemetery offers a different connection with nature. Five information panels explain features of the natural environment and wildlife. Plan your visit around the cemetery’s opening hours. In this way, the parks serve as a green setting for the old town, while the trail explores nature at a specific location.

Planetarium and Special Topics

The planetarium covers astronomy as well as other natural sciences and space travel. Its visitor programme includes expert talks, skywatching and musical events. As the availability of individual events may change, check the current programme before your visit.

The Neo Rauch Graphics Foundation is located in Bestehornpark. You can reach it on foot via BestehornstraĂźe, WilhelmstraĂźe or the entrance by the HeinrichstraĂźe car park. Guided tours can currently be booked in German and English. Check the latest access and booking conditions in advance.

Bike Rides and a Local Story

A cycling route connects Aschersleben and Seeland. The Aschersleben–Harzer Seenland Tour is listed as a cycling route. A circular route starting in Aschersleben passes through a bird sanctuary and includes a stop at Lake Froser See. Another cycling destination is the ruins of Arnstein Castle. These details offer different starting points for planning an outing without specifying a particular distance or riding time.

Marjoram cultivation is also part of the local history: guided tours explore its development and the people behind it. As tour availability may change, check in advance whether a tour is available during your visit. Alongside art, buildings and nature, a themed guided tour is another option.
