Göcklingen is a wine-growing village whose local offerings bring together food and drink, local culture and walks as distinct highlights. Local wineries, wine taverns, restaurants and Göcklinger Hausbräu make up the culinary side; a historical village tour and two festivals add to it. On foot, the Kaiserbach Valley, the Alte Tongrube biotope pond and the renaturalised Krottenbach towards Eschbach are local options to consider.

Wine and Local Culture

Göcklingen is a wine-growing village; local wineries and tasting rooms welcome visitors almost every day. Before visiting, check which establishments receive guests and when the tasting rooms are open. Restaurants and Göcklinger Hausbräu add more local places to eat and drink to the wine offerings.

Local culture includes a historical village tour, a wine festival in June and a Kerwe (village fair) in August. The two festivals take place in different months, which can help when choosing a date: if you are planning your visit around a festival, check the exact date and participating establishments before you travel. The village tour adds an insight into local history alongside the festivals.

Local Trails

Local walking options lead through the Kaiserbach Valley, to the Alte Tongrube biotope pond and along the renaturalised Krottenbach towards Eschbach. The pond and restored stream put waterways in the foreground, while the Kaiserbach Valley adds a valley setting to the selection. Trail conditions can change, so take current conditions into account when planning.

Replicas of the Imperial Regalia are on display at Trifels Imperial Castle. The Madenburg Castle in Leinsweiler has a permanent exhibition on its origins.

The Museum unterm Trifels in Annweiler am Trifels covers the history of the town, Trifels Castle and the Hohenstaufen dynasty, as well as the development of the landscape in the Palatinate Forest. The monastery trail at Eußerthal Abbey Church provides information about the history of the former Cistercian monastery.

The regional trails vary in length and theme. The TrifelsErlebnisWeg is 3.6 kilometres long, is designated as a one-way route and includes 18 play and learning stations; digital content may change.
