Göllheim offers a clear choice between local history and hiking: the Uhl’sches Haus focuses on the history of the town, while various trails cover different distances. From the approximately two-kilometre accessible loop to the 17-kilometre Adolf von Nassau hiking trail, you can plan your day according to how far you want to hike. Art at the Kleine Galerie is also on offer during certain events.
History and Exhibitions in Göllheim
The Uhl’sches Haus has been a local history museum since 1979 and showcases Göllheim’s history. A large diorama with many painted tin figures and an audio station illustrate the battle; visitors can try on a helmet and sword. The exhibition thus combines a depiction of the battle with a hands-on element. Ulrich Tower is the last surviving fortification tower in Göllheim. While the museum tells the story of the town, the tower represents its surviving fortification architecture.
Choose Hiking Trails by Length and Features
Göllheim’s trails differ in length and features. The Dachsi hiking trail is an accessible circular route about 2 km long. Its gradient, width, surface and information facilities make it suitable for all age groups. The 17 km Adolf von Nassau hiking trail starts at the King’s Cross in Göllheim. This gives you a choice between a short loop with designated accessibility and a much longer tour with a fixed starting point.
The Dachsberg Geopark lies nearby, northwest of Göllheim. Its 1.7 km circular trail has 17 stations covering geology and the history of the Earth, flora and fauna, as well as the Dyckerhoff company and the cement works in Göllheim. Seating areas invite you to linger, and the site is freely accessible. At 1.7 km, this trail is close in length to the approximately 2 km Dachsi loop. Both are short circular routes, but they have different focuses: at Dachsberg, stations cover several topics, while the Dachsi trail stands out for its accessible design and suitability for all age groups.
Art on Special Occasions
The rooms of the Kerzenheimer Tor serve as an art exhibition venue under the name “Kleine Galerie im Kerzenheimer Tor.” Exhibitions take place during the Göllheim markets in May and October, and at the Torbogenfest in August. Dates and the current programme may vary. So if you would like to visit the gallery, check the event dates and the programme for the relevant occasion.
