Dierhagen’s beach is approximately seven kilometres long, up to 30 metres wide and made of white fine sand. There are also historic sites, Bodden tours and a seasonal cycling and hiking tour to the Ribnitz Great Moor. These activities are available at different times of year, making them suitable for different travel-planning priorities.

Beach and access points

Some sections of the beach are designated as naturist areas, while others are designated as beaches for dogs. As designations may change seasonally, follow the signs on site. This will help you choose the right section of beach based on the current signage.

There are beach access points for visitors with mobility impairments. Accessible toilets are available at some beach entrances; availability varies by entrance. If you rely on a particular access point or toilet, check the facilities at the relevant entrance before your visit.

Bodden, harbour and moor

The historic Dändorf Salt Harbour lies on the west bank of the Saaler Bodden and is now a popular resting place for waterway travellers. The waterway rest area in Dierhagen Dorf has 54 berths. Dierhagen Harbour and Waterway Rest Area has modern sanitary facilities and a boat slipway.

The Kruse and Voß passenger boat service operates the MS “Ostseebad Wustrow”, the MS “Bültenkieker” and the MS “Boddenkieker”. They also depart from Dierhagen Harbour for Bodden tours in the “Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft” National Park. Routes and timetables are seasonal; check departure times before your trip.

The “Hike through the Great Moor” tour offers another way to experience the landscape. From May to October, it combines a cycling tour with a hike through the Ribnitz Great Moor and starts at the Haus des Gastes in Dierhagen Strand. Check the current tour dates when planning your trip.

Church, history and culture

The Dierhagen Dorf church houses the model ship “Vergatte von Dierhagen 1799”. The church is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from May to September. Check the seasonal opening hours before your visit.

The Dändorf History House features changing exhibitions on the history of the Baltic seaside resort of Dierhagen. It is open to visitors daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from May to October. As opening hours are seasonal, check them again before you arrive.

Dändorf is also home to a preserved historic salt road. It can be seen as a historic monument alongside the old captains’ houses. The road and the History House thus complement the beach and water-based activities with two different ways to explore local history.

The Sunset Piano Concert takes place in Dierhagen every year in late July or early August, with musical performances by Lutz Gerlach and Ulrike Mai. If you would like to plan your stay around the concert, check the current programme. Dierhagen Spa Park was completed in 1998 and is located right next to the Haus des Gastes.

Getting here and choosing the right time to visit

The Baltic seaside resort of Dierhagen lies at the entrance to the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula. You can get there by car, bicycle, plane or on foot. The activities are available at different times of year: the church is open until September, while the History House and moor tour are scheduled from May to October; the concert takes place every year in late July or early August. If you would like to combine several of these experiences, check their dates against your travel dates.
