More than 100 dinosaurs and prehistoric animals along a circular trail, plus a free audio guide and hands-on activities in the main building: the Usedom Dino Park brings together several ways to explore the history of the Earth in Mölschow. Cycle paths and the Usedom Distillery are also among the local attractions. Mölschow can be reached via federal highway 111 and the Bannemin-Mölschow stop on the Züssow–Wolgast–Heringsdorf–Swinemünde railway line.
Dino Park: Circular trail, hands-on activities and natural meadows
Mölschow Dino Park is an adventure and themed park offering insights into the development of life on Earth. Along a circular trail, the Usedom Dino Park features more than 100 dinosaurs and prehistoric animals. In the main building, children can draw, take part in excavations and explore. The free audio guide complements the walk around the park. In this way, the park combines viewing the animals with activities inside the building; the various offerings all revolve around the same theme, but each has a different focus.
The park also includes carefully maintained natural meadows. They provide habitats for insects, birds, amphibians and small reptiles. This places the prehistoric animals on display alongside another nature-related theme: the habitats maintained on the grounds. Those interested in animals and nature will find both the circular trail and the chance to learn about the meadows and their inhabitants.
Cycling: two tours of different lengths
The Wolgast–Mölschow–Trassenheide cycle path runs through Mölschow. A route branches off from it to Karlshagen and Peenemünde. Another option is the 8.5-kilometre family cycling tour from Trassenheide to Mölschow Dino Park, returning to Trassenheide via a cycle path. The park is the destination of the circular tour described; both the starting point and the return point are in Trassenheide.
Tour D is about 15 kilometres long and starts and ends at the Mölschow UBB stop. Compared with the 8.5-kilometre tour, it is longer and has a different starting and ending point. You can therefore take the route length and starting point into account as specific differences when choosing a tour. No walking or cycling time is given for either route; the distances alone indicate the extent of each tour.
More activities in the associated municipality
In the associated municipality, Bannemin Riding Stables offers riding holidays for children and adults, as well as for beginners and advanced riders. Qualified riding instructors supervise the activities. For unsuitable weather, the stables have indoor riding arenas with training facilities and a viewing room. The riding stables also offer horseback rides, including canters along the Baltic Sea beach at sunset. As availability should be confirmed before your trip, it is advisable to contact the provider in advance.
Distillery and a break in the old manor house
Usedom Distillery & Café is the island of Usedom’s first pot still distillery and produces gin, rum and whisky. Tours followed by tastings are available; advance booking by telephone is required. So do not plan a visit without arranging it in advance.
After visiting the distillery, the cafeteria in the old Mölschow manor house invites you to take a break. It serves coffee and homemade cake, and also has a large country-style garden. The tour and tasting, followed by a stop at the cafeteria, make up two distinct parts of a visit; the tour must be arranged in advance by telephone.
Peenestrom and scenery in the municipal area
Zecherin Harbour is a small marina in the municipality of Mölschow, sheltered by the reed belt on the Peenestrom. Small electric boats that do not require a licence can be rented there. As operator details can change, it is a good idea to check current rental options with the provider before setting out.
The landscape information relates to the municipal area: between the B111 and the Peenestrom, the area is characterised by flat meadows, fields and quiet villages. The municipal area also includes reed-lined shores along the Peenestrom. The harbour and riverside scenery therefore offer a different focus from the Dino Park, cycle tours and distillery.
