Diedrichshagen Beach is part of the Stoltera Nature Reserve. Behind dense coastal forest, the cliff edge drops almost vertically up to 20 metres to a wild natural beach. You can reach it on foot via a small ravine; colourful pebbles line the shore. This sequence of forest, steep coastline and natural beach gives your stay a clear focus: Diedrichshagen is best explored through its coastal landscape and signposted Thalasso walking trails.
Coast and protected landscape
The “Diedrichshäger Land” landscape conservation area covers around 353 hectares. It lies within the cadastral districts of Diedrichshagen, sections 1 to 4; Warnemünde, section 1; and Groß Klein, section 1. The disused sand pits west and east of the Diedrichshagen landfill are also notable landscape features: they provide important habitats for numerous rare and endangered plants and animals.
Walking between the surf zone and coastal forest
For a specific route, consider Thalasso walking trail 2, “At the Baltic Sea Beach and Through the Seaside Resort of Diedrichshagen.” The circular walk is 4.7 kilometres long and passes through the seaside resort of Diedrichshagen. After around 1.5 kilometres, a staircase leads into the coastal forest of the Stoltera Nature Reserve. The route’s length and course provide two practical points of reference for planning.
In addition, there are ten signposted Thalasso walking trails from Diedrichshagen to Markgrafenheide. They pass through the surf zone or the adjacent coastal forests. When choosing your surroundings, you can therefore decide whether you would rather walk along the surf zone or through coastal forest.
Thalasso walking trail 2 is accessible on bus routes 36 or 37 towards the seaside resort of Diedrichshagen, getting off at the “Rostock-Warnemünde Strand” stop. The stop is very close to the start and end of the walk. Check the current service for your journey.
Seaside resort, riding lessons and farm shop
Diedrichshagen continues to hold the designation “State-recognised seaside resort.” Its successful re-certification was confirmed on 4 August at an event in Warnemünde.
Riding lessons can be booked at the Blohm riding stable in Diedrichshagen. If you plan to take advantage of this offer, it is best to confirm availability before your arrival.
The Blohm riding stable’s farm shop stocks fresh eggs, homemade jam, liver sausage, fresh soup hens and rabbits. It also offers fresh game from wild boar and roe deer, wild boar ham, home-grown potatoes and onions, and homemade egg liqueur. Product availability may change; check what is currently on offer before visiting.
