Silbersee is Langenhagen’s largest bathing lake, covering 68,200 square metres. Park-like recreational areas offer opportunities for swimming, playing volleyball, jogging, walking and sledding. At the same time, the reed beds along the lake serve an important purpose for nature: they provide refuge for water birds and other animals. This means recreational activities and habitats by the water coexist here.

Lakes, swimming and exercise

Waldsee is Langenhagen’s second-largest bathing lake and is particularly highlighted as a destination for families. Together with Silbersee, it offers another option for anyone looking to focus their stay on bathing lakes.

Another option for enjoying the water is Wasserwelt Langenhagen. It has seven sports and leisure pools, a sauna complex with a large garden, and restaurant areas. The pools include a tube slide almost 100 metres long, a 25-metre pool with six lanes, and a separate diving pool. This makes it possible to enjoy different water activities in one place. Your choice may depend on whether you mainly want to swim, use the slides or visit the sauna area.

Parks with different features

The Wietzepark, covering around 30 hectares, is geared towards recreation and ecological diversity. It is used for walking, cycling, jogging and horse riding. If you’re looking to get active in green surroundings, you’ll find several different options here, from a walk or bike ride to a horse ride.

The 3.5-hectare Eichen- und Stadtpark Langenhagen is located in the city centre. Old trees and historic clinic buildings together form an important cultural monument. The park also provides space for rare plants and animals, while fitness equipment adds to its recreational sports facilities. It therefore combines a site of cultural and historical interest with connections to nature and exercise. Eichen- und Stadtpark is also part of the Grüner Ring Tour I: Forst Heidehaus–Wietze.

Walks, relaxation and sporting activities all have a place in Stadtpark Langenhagen. The former Rohdehaus is also located there: a two-storey half-timbered building that houses the city archive. The 1905 water tower is used by nature conservation groups and provides information about nesting kestrels. Alongside opportunities for exercise, these places give the city park a special connection to local history and nature conservation.

The multi-generational activity park adds specific play and exercise facilities to the green spaces. These include a pétanque area, game tables, a giant chessboard, a ball court and an activity trail for several generations. If you want to combine different activities, you can make these facilities a focus of your plans.

Art and planning your stay

Kunstverein Langenhagen presents changing exhibitions and events featuring a range of contemporary art perspectives. Its programme includes guided tours, lectures, discussions, talks and workshops. As exhibitions and specific dates change, it’s worth checking the current programme before your visit.

Langenhagen offers several distinct ways to shape your stay: bathing lakes and Wasserwelt, parks and exercise, or art and local history. If you’re looking for hotels in Langenhagen, you can plan around your own interests. The Langenhagen Zentrum light rail stop is a convenient landmark in the city centre.
