Tespe combines the Elbe Cycle Route along the Elbe dike with the outdoor pool, Tespe harbor and a hall house dating from 1779. When looking for accommodation in Tespe, it helps to decide first what your trip will focus on: cycling, swimming or local history will lead you to different questions about your stay. The sights and activities offer specific points of reference that you can weigh according to your own interests.
Cycling along the Elbe Dike
The Elbe Cycle Route runs directly on or alongside the Elbe dike through Tespe and the Elbmarsch toward Rönne. Both this route and the viewpoint on the Tespe dike, which is accessible via the Elbe Cycle Route, are useful for finding your way along the route. This means you can include the viewpoint in your cycling plans without confusing it with the continuation of the route.
On the opposite bank of the Elbe, the Elbe Cycle Route passes the KrĂĽmmel nuclear power plant in Tespe. The Elbe Cycle Route runs through Tespe and the Elbmarsch on or alongside the Elbe dike.
Swimming at Tespe Outdoor Pool
Tespe outdoor pool has a 25-meter pool and a sunbathing lawn where you can relax. It also has a large red water slide with its own pool; it has been part of the facility since 1984. Swimming lessons for beginners and advanced swimmers are offered regularly. The facilities therefore offer different ways to enjoy swimming: the pool, slide, sunbathing lawn and lessons. Which one matters most to you depends on how you would like to spend your time here.
There are also specific points of reference for planning your journey: the outdoor pool is a short detour from the Elbe Cycle Route. From LĂĽneburg, you can get there on bus route 5405; the stop is Tespe, Schule. Check the bus service before setting out. This lets you consider the cycle route and outdoor pool as separate priorities and take the bus connection into account when planning your journey.
Hall House and Settlement History
The Lower Saxon hall house in Tespe dates from 1779. It has an unchanged two-post frame with nine bays. Its construction date and preserved structure are two specific architectural features that help tell the story of the area. For travelers interested in historic architecture, this offers a different perspective on Tespe from the cycle route or outdoor pool.
The history of settlement extends beyond the history of a single building. The original village of Tespe was on the Geest, on the northern bank of the Elbe. Tesperhude developed at the site of the former village. Both the village’s original location and the later development of Tesperhude are therefore part of the area’s historical context.
Tespe Harbor
Tespe harbor has 60 berths. Available visitor berths are marked in green. The total number refers to the harbor’s berths; the green markings help visitors identify the visitor berths. This adds another distinct point of interest to your travel plans, alongside cycling, swimming and local history.
