At Miniatur Wunderland, you can look over the shoulders of the model makers and technical teams in the open construction areas and workshops: a new landscape is taking shape there. Brick, harbor and city history
Speicherstadt is a complex of red-brick warehouses, canals, bridges and streets. It was built near the Port of Hamburg starting in the late 19th century and added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2015. Kaispeicher B in Speicherstadt houses the world’s largest private collection of maritime treasures, spanning 3,000 years of shipping and naval history. Hamburg’s City Hall offers another perspective on the city’s history. The building was constructed from 1886 to 1897, and its architecture gives the city center its distinctive character. From May to September, colorful water-light concerts take place every evening on the park lake at Planten un Blomen. This seasonal series is quite different from the year-round themes of art, architecture and city history.
