Langenlipsdorf offers several reasons to stay: the village is part of Fläming-Skate Loop 6, the village church dates from the 13th century, and residents and their guests celebrate Fastnacht at a local inn. The village’s history of wood carving adds another dimension. You can choose accommodation based on whether you are most interested in the skating route, the church’s architectural history or village life.

Skating, getting here and cycling routes

Loop 6 is 48.620 kilometres long and three metres wide, and is designed for skating. There are more challenging climbs and descents between Langenlipsdorf and Körbitz. If you plan to take this section, factor the elevation profile into your choice of route. Langenlipsdorf is one of the villages connected to the loop.

L&L Skaters Home is located directly behind the historic village church and offers direct access to Fläming-Skate. Check availability before your trip.

From Oehna station, first head to Langenlipsdorf to reach Loop 6. This access route may change due to maintenance work, so check the information before you travel. Another type of tour is the historic town-centre route from Jüterbog to Herzberg, which passes through Langenlipsdorf. The distinction is clear for planning purposes: Loop 6 is designed for skating, while the town-centre route is for cycling. This lets you include the village in a tour that suits your planned activity.

Village church, Fastnacht and woodcraft

Langenlipsdorf village church is a late Romanesque fieldstone building dating from the 13th century. Its nave, narrower chancel and semicircular apse were built with regular fieldstone masonry. A narrower chancel is set back from the nave; the apse forms a semicircular end. In 1882/84, the church was extensively altered with the addition of a neo-Gothic tower and pointed-arch windows. The building thus shows both its medieval origins and later neo-Gothic alterations.

Fastnacht is another local attraction: residents and their guests celebrate at an inn in Langenlipsdorf. The inn is being preserved so that they can celebrate Fastnacht there. Any specific event plans should be considered separately.

Another chapter in the village’s history leads to the site of SIK-Holz. There, under the conditions of a centrally planned economy, Klaus-Peter and Claudia Gust founded a master woodcarving workshop in 1988. The business designed, crafted and produced custom Robinia wood playground equipment for children. Together with the village church, this offers a contrast between a medieval fieldstone building and craft production that began in 1988.

More to explore in the wider destination of Niedergörsdorf

In the wider destination of Niedergörsdorf, the Schinkel Monument, erected in 1817 at the edge of Niedergörsdorf on the road towards Altes Lager, commemorates the Battle of Dennewitz. The Dennewitz Village Museum has a small permanent exhibition about the 1813 battle and is also a stop on the “Battle of Dennewitz 1813” educational trail. The two-kilometre forest discovery trail “Where fox and hare say good night” offers a different focus, with stops about animals and plants, activities and a quiz. These wider-destination attractions complement a visit to the village but are distinct from the offerings in Langenlipsdorf.
