Building history, a cycle route along a former railway line and a waterway rest area give Langen its distinctive character. When looking for a holiday apartment in the village, you can decide whether church and farmstead history, cycling or water should be at the heart of your stay. Weekday bus services are also a practical consideration when planning.
Cycling the “Stille Pauline”
The former railway embankment known as the “Stille Pauline” is now a cycle route running from Paulinenaue via Dammkrug and Langen to Neuruppin. For most of its length, it follows the former railway line. The sequence of places reflects the route and situates Langen between Dammkrug and Neuruppin.
Churchyard and protected groups of buildings
As of 1 January 2026, the protected churchyard ensemble and three other properties are listed in Brandenburg’s register of monuments. The churchyard ensemble comprises the village church, the churchyard gate, the churchyard wall, the cemetery chapel and the fire station. Langen’s Stüler Church is one of the largest village churches in the state of Brandenburg.
Dorfstraße is also home to several protected groups of buildings. At Dorfstraße 17, a protected residential building with an enclosure is described as the former manor’s farm building. The protected farmstead at Dorfstraße 28 comprises a dwelling house, two stable buildings, a barn and a paved courtyard. The protected rectory farmstead at Dorfstraße 71 comprises a rectory and two farm buildings. As of 1 January 2026, all three properties are listed in Brandenburg’s register of monuments.
Planning around buses and water
The three stops “Langen, Dorfstraße”, “Langen, Kirche” and “Langen, Neubau” are served by ORP buses in the VBB transport network from Monday to Friday; this information was confirmed on 31 August 2026. In Fehrbellin, connections are available towards Neuruppin and Kremmen. Check the timetable for your travel day before setting off.
The Langen waterway rest area has a floating pontoon with boarding and landing access directly at the water’s edge. This adds a tangible connection to the water to the village’s cycling and cultural attractions.
Fehrbellin as a wider travel destination
The wider Fehrbellin destination offers further cultural and cycling themes. Fehrbellin’s Kurfürstenpark is a protected historic park; its central feature is the Elector’s monument, which has already been extensively restored. Fehrbellin’s town church is 41 metres high and Neo-Gothic; it was built to plans by Friedrich August Stüler.
Two cycling tours in the wider destination differ in length and starting points: “Rund um Fehrbellin” (Around Fehrbellin) covers 25 kilometres and starts and finishes in Fehrbellin. The 65-kilometre “Geschichtstour” (History Tour) starts at the tourist information office in the town library, right next to Fehrbellin Town Hall. On the water, the “Rhintour Richtung Havelberg/Elbe” (Rhin Tour towards Havelberg/Elbe) also starts in Fehrbellin and follows the Rhin Canal towards Havelberg. The “Rhinluch-Runde” (Rhinluch Loop) offers a five-kilometre detour through Fehrbellin; canoe trolleys are available at the weirs in Fehrbellin during the season.
