Rehfelde offers several ways to plan your trip: local history at the local history room, folk songs along the Song Trail, and nature-themed circular routes. When choosing, consider which focus you would like to spend time on. The route information also differs: the Song Trail is described as a 15-kilometre network of paths, as well as a specific 10-kilometre route.
Local history at the local history room
The Rehfelde Local History Room presents the history of Rehfelde in a permanent exhibition and a small local history archive. Exhibits cover rural life, industry, crafts and trades, school, the Ostbahn railway and the fire brigade. The municipal chronicles can also be consulted there. Alongside everyday life and trade, the exhibits also cover local institutions and the history of the municipality.
Folk songs along the Song Trail
Along the 15-kilometre network of paths of the Rehfelde–Werder–Zinndorf Song Trail, granite boulders, black locust trunks and fieldstones feature song plaques with 36 German and nine Polish folk songs. A 10-kilometre section of the Song Trail leads from Rehfelde via Werder, Zinndorf and the Zinndorf fields, returning to Rehfelde. The two figures describe different distances: 15 kilometres for the network of paths and 10 kilometres for the specific route. This can help you decide whether to follow the entire network or this single circular route.
Nature trail and other circular routes
The nature trail is a circular route that starts at Rehfelde Primary School. Along Birkenweg, large information boards tell hikers more about native songbirds, the red wood ant, beetles, and natural and artificial caves. Here, the information boards give the route a clear focus on nature.
The nature and adventure circular route passes through Rehfelder Heide and by Zimmersee. It runs through the Rehfelde settlement area and combines nature and culture. The Lily Circular Route has a different focus: it connects the villages of Rehfelde, Werder and Zinndorf and their churches from the Cistercian period. If you are particularly interested in these villages and churches, the Lily Circular Route offers a corresponding cultural and historical connection.
Hiking information and the regional setting
The Rehfelde Tourism Pavilion provides information about hikes on the circular routes in the municipality, in Märkische Schweiz and in the surrounding area. Check the pavilion’s current operating details before your trip if you plan to use this information.
The wider destination of Märkisch-Oderland offers further cultural and nature-related options. The Brecht-Weigel House in Buckow has been a museum since 1977. Its year-round programme includes readings, concerts, talks, discussions, films, exhibitions and special guided tours; individual offerings vary. You can explore Märkische Schweiz on the 17-kilometre Natura Trail and the certified Märkische Schweiz Nature Park Route, which is just under 21 kilometres long. The different route lengths offer a practical comparison when choosing a route, while the museum provides a cultural focus.
