Gruberbach Generations Park combines relaxation and leisure on the eastern edge of Moosbach. The grounds cover eight hectares. Nature trails, a small larch grove and numerous places to sit shape the park: you can explore the paths, take a break, or do both. The different areas give the grounds more than just a single focus.

Mini Golf and Glass Culture in Moosbach

The Generations Park also has an 18-hole mini golf course. It complies with the guidelines of the German Minigolf Association and is suitable for competitions. This gives it a sporting dimension in addition to its recreational value. Availability is seasonal; check the course’s opening times before your visit.

You can also encounter glass at Burgtreswitz Castle Museum. The collections on display include glass, porcelain and coins; there is also a model of a glass-polishing workshop. The museum is open as part of the castle tours. Plan your visit together with a castle tour and check the dates in advance.

The Glass Grinder Trail takes the glass theme along a longer route: this 80 km cultural-history circular hiking trail passes through Moosbach and Burgtreswitz. Alongside the individual attractions in town, there is also a circular hike that explores the history of glass along the way. Check the current trail conditions before setting out.

More options in the wider destination of Neustadt an der Waldnaab

The district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab is part of the Upper Palatinate Forest destination and offers hiking, cycling, museum visits and swimming in numerous bathing waters, among other activities. One regional option is the Bockl: the 52 km route runs from Neustadt an der Waldnaab to Eslarn along a historic railway line. It can be travelled on foot, by bike or on inline skates.

The Bockl is mostly paved and free of traffic; gradients along the route rarely exceed three percent. The starting point in Neustadt an der Waldnaab is directly accessible by train. Trains run every hour to the terminus of the Nuremberg–Neustadt an der Waldnaab line, where you can transfer directly to your bike. Check the timetable before travelling.

In Parkstein, a historic walking tour combines with geological themes. It starts at Landrichter Castle, which houses the Vulkanerlebnis Parkstein Museum. A volcanic eruption is depicted there every hour and can be experienced on three levels; check the current schedule before your visit. The Parkstein basalt cone was added to the list of Bavaria’s 100 most beautiful geotopes in 2003 and received the designation “National Geotope” in 2006.

Baroque and Zoigl in the regional offerings

Speinshart Monastery Church is one of the most significant Baroque buildings in southern Germany and is distinguished by its Italian High Baroque furnishings. Together with the preserved historic monastic village, the monastery is considered a cultural heritage site of European standing. A public tour takes place in the church every Sunday and public holiday at 3 pm. As tour times may change, check the date before making plans.

Zoigl is also part of the region’s character: in Windischeschenbach, 17 Zoigl tavern owners, including 12 traditional communal brewers, take turns serving this beer speciality in their Zoigl taverns on weekends. The numbers and serving dates may change; check the dates for your trip.
