Hasselberg’s coat of arms shows a golden hazel grouse facing left beneath an eight-pointed silver star. It is based on the village court seal from 1730. The star may also point to an earlier affiliation with the County of Wertheim. A specific historical reference and a cautious interpretation thus stand side by side: the seal provides a historical anchor, while the connection to the county remains a possibility.

Hiking and Events Throughout the Year

The Hasselberg Hiking Club holds its recurring pea soup meal in the middle of the forest on May 1. Pea soup is cooked in a large cauldron, and grilled food is also prepared. The Holzacker meal follows on December 29: from 5 a.m., around 12 steres of wood are set alight to cook onion beef in a large bed of embers around midday. The events mark different seasons and also differ in their dishes and methods of preparation. If one of the meals is a deciding factor in your trip, check the date and confirm that it is going ahead before you travel.

Hasselberg is a district of Hasloch and offers starting points for hiking tours through the Spessart. One specific section is part of the Faulbach-A hiking trail: after another 1.5 kilometres, it reaches the photovoltaic installation on Hasselberger Höhe, then turns left and follows the Marienweg/Keiler/H1 markers for about 300 metres. Check current trail conditions before setting out.

Nature and Animal Care

The Hasselberg Wildlife Rescue Station provides care, on a voluntary and donation-funded basis, for injured and sick animals until they recover. The station is located on a spacious private property. If you are interested in visiting, please check in advance whether a visit is possible.

Hasloch: Church and Industrial History

Hasloch lies in the narrow Main Valley on the Bavarian side of the Main, at the mouth of the Haselbach stream. Hasloch also has a DB railway stop. Check the current timetable before travelling and plan the onward connection to Hasselberg separately.

The first place of worship in Hasloch was a chapel, whose foundation stone was laid in 1307. The Evangelical Lutheran parish church in Hasloch has furnishings dating from the second half of the 19th century. Two altar wings from the 15th century, rescued from the former church, show the Annunciation of Christ’s birth to Mary on the front and Saints Margaret and Barbara on the reverse. These different historical layers complement the heraldic tradition of Hasselberg with Hasloch’s own church history.

The Kurtz Ersa HAMMERMUSEUM in Hasloch opened on July 1, 2014, and is part of the company’s Historic Center. The water-powered iron hammer on the Haselbach in Hasloch is the root of the globally active supplier and high-tech group Kurtz Ersa. At the HAMMERMUSEUM and the iron hammer, living technology is associated with the year 1779. At an interactive station in the HAMMERMUSEUM, visitors can measure their strength against that of the iron hammer. If you would like to include the station in your plans, confirm current access in advance.

Radi's beer garden in Hasloch is an option for a break and refreshments. Check before your visit whether it will be open on your chosen date.
