Mainstockheim combines the plain along the Main River with the vineyards of the “Mainstockheimer Hofstück” wine-growing site. When looking for accommodation, you may want to consider whether to focus your stay more on trails through the vineyards, cycling or the history of the town. Local options offer different starting points for planning: circular hiking trails, a cycling route along the river, a ferry connection and historic buildings.

Hiking, Cycling and Wine

Two signposted circular hiking trails pass through Mainstockheim and its vineyards; guided tours are available on request. The Main Cycle Path offers a different perspective, running through Mainstockheim and its municipal area along the river. Walking trails and the cycling route are therefore different ways to experience the town and its landscape. You can treat each route as a focus in its own right rather than assume they form a set combined tour.

Guided tours can also be included in your plans, though conditions vary. Laura Voit, a former Wine Princess, offers guided tours for groups in Mainstockheim by prior arrangement. Check current availability directly with the provider. After a tour of the wine-growing town of Mainstockheim, you can arrange to taste wines from the Mainstockheimer HofstĂĽck at a local winery. Prior agreement with the winemaker is important for this wine tasting.

In autumn, hosts in Mainstockheim invite visitors to relaxed Bremser evenings. If you would like to include this seasonal option in your plans, ask local winemakers about current dates.

Church, Synagogue and Ebracher Court

St. James’s Church is first mentioned in historical records on 22 May 1451. Since spring 2013, there has been a small biblical garden within its walled grounds. An early historical reference and a much more recent addition thus sit side by side in the same church setting.

The former synagogue in Mainstockheim was built in 1836 for the Jewish community in the Neoclassical style. Today, the building serves as a Catholic place of worship. If you plan to visit, check its current use in advance. Another architectural detail can be found in Gumbertusgasse, where an old bell turret has been preserved on a residential building.

The Ebracher Court and its garden are two distinct historical features. The former Ebrach monastery courtyard was built between 1621 and 1623 in the ornate Renaissance style. The garden of Ebracher Court was created later, from 1727 to 1734, on several levels and covers more than 4,600 m². Ebracher Court is now a senior living residence. Its dates of origin and multi-level design give the site another facet of its architectural history, clearly distinct from the church and synagogue.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Mainstockheim is located directly on the Nuremberg–Frankfurt railway line. Check the current timetable for your specific journey. The Chris-Tina ferry connects Mainstockheim and Albertshofen; include its current operating times in your plans. The railway line and ferry are different points of reference for getting here, while the circular hiking trails and Main Cycle Path offer separate ways to explore the area.
