Reisbach offers a multi-day festival, an amusement park in the heart of the municipality and a market square with a remarkable architectural history. These themes appeal to different travel interests: the folk festival provides a specific date, Bayern-Park a focus on leisure, and the churches on the market square offer insights into different historical periods. Routes through fields and forests are also among the options in the market town. If you are looking for hotels in Reisbach, you can first decide whether your stay should be shaped primarily by the festival, the amusement park, architecture or nature.

The Folk Festival as a Reason to Visit

The Reisbach Folk Festival has taken place every year for many decades, starting on the second Sunday in July, and lasts five days. Check the specific festival dates before your trip if you would like to plan your stay around it. The programme begins on Friday with a concert by a brass band on the market square. A traditional, colourful procession then makes its way to the festival grounds on Franz-Josef-Strauß-Straße. Saturday’s programme includes the Vilstal Half Marathon and the Reisbach Folk Festival Run; both are organised by the Reisbach running group. The festival programme is therefore spread over several days and connects the market square with the festival grounds.

The Market Square and Churches in a Historic Ensemble

The Reisbach Market Square Ensemble comprises the square and the adjacent buildings. The parish church and the Church of the Saviour stand on its north and south sides. The parish church is a Gothic basilica with a Romanesque western tower complex; the lower section of the tower probably dates from the 12th or 13th century. The Church of the Saviour is also Gothic in its core. Its south façade, decorated with stucco in 1739, forms a delicate counterpoint to the fortress-like appearance of the parish church, which stands at a higher elevation. The two buildings thus offer contrasting architectural features around the same square.

The interior of St Michael’s Parish Church also offers a distinctive historical connection: its choir contains a rare cycle of 16 panel paintings from 1520 in the Danube School style. The church building and the panels offer different ways to explore local history—from the architectural form and tower to a specific body of work from the early 16th century.

Amusement Park, Golf and Outdoor Routes

Bayern-Park, one of Bavaria’s largest amusement parks, is located in the heart of the municipality of Reisbach. Reisbach also has an 18-hole championship golf course; check details with the operator before your trip. The extensive network of quiet public field and forest roads offers another way to spend time outdoors. These routes let you enjoy nature away from paved roads, go for a walk and linger. The amusement park, golf course and walking routes cater to different interests, without requiring a set itinerary.

For travel via the main road network, the market town of Reisbach is connected via the Dingolfing-Ost exit of the A92.

More to Explore in the Wider Dingolfing-Landau Destination

The wider Dingolfing-Landau destination also offers distinctive cultural and nature-related attractions. At the Kastenhof in Landau’s old town, original archaeological finds from the region tell the story of the first farmers. Hands-on replicas, striking images and Lisar, a lifelike figure of a Neolithic woman, bring this past to life. The Dingolfing Museum explores the town’s history and industrial heritage from the Neolithic period to the present day and is spread across three historic buildings: Herzogsburg, Pfleghof and Getreidekasten. For outdoor activities, the Vilstalsee, covering around 100 ha in a nature reserve, offers opportunities for hiking, cycling, boating, sailing and surfing.
