The village of Mamming is located directly on the Isar Cycle Path. Regular church services are held at St. Margaret’s Parish Church; the nearby Isar floodplains invite you to go running, cycling and fishing.

Mamming: Isar Cycle Path, church and activities in the municipality

Regular church services are held at St. Margaret’s Parish Church. Visitors are welcome to attend Eucharistic celebrations and devotions, or to pray quietly on their own. If you would like to attend a service, check the current times in the parish bulletin. This lets you plan your visit accordingly without assuming set times.

The nearby Isar floodplains invite you to go running, cycling and fishing. In addition to the Isar Cycle Path, there are other opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities. You can choose between walking, cycling and fishing.

Another point of interest is the district’s pilgrimage route, which passes through the municipality of Mamming, among other places. The municipal level is also relevant when it comes to the ponds: In Mammingerschwaigen, the municipality lists Mossandl Pond and Rädlinger Pond under “Swimming & winter ice sports.” Check the current conditions before visiting.

Culture and nature in the wider Dingolfing-Landau destination

In the wider Dingolfing-Landau destination, Kastenhof Landau offers an archaeological introduction to the region. Original finds tell the story of the time of the first farmers. Hands-on replicas, striking images and Lisar, a lifelike figure of a Neolithic woman, bring the past to life. Here, archaeological finds are presented through a variety of interpretive approaches.

The museums in Landau and Dingolfing also highlight different aspects of history. The Landau Local History Museum is housed in the 250-year-old Weißgerberhaus. Its exhibits cover rural domestic culture, faith and religious devotion, the history of the town of Landau, bourgeois domestic life and self-presentation, and crafts in the town; the focus is on the 19th century. The Dingolfing Museum spans three historic buildings in the Upper Town: Herzogsburg, Pfleghof and Getreidekasten. It presents the town’s history and industrial history from the Neolithic period to the present day.

Herzogsburg in Dingolfing was built around 1410 as the official residence of the Kastner (a ducal administrator) and as accommodation for the Bavarian dukes. Two other details stand out at the pilgrimage church of Maria im Steinfels: it was consecrated in 1726, and its altar stands in front of a Nagelfluh rock face. This makes it possible to consider the wider destination’s town history, historic buildings and religious sites as different cultural interests.

For nature and water activities, Vilstalsee is another highlight in Dingolfing-Landau. The “Vilstal near Marklkofen” nature reserve covers almost 175 hectares and provides a habitat for numerous animal and plant species. The approximately 100-hectare Vilstalsee lies within the nature reserve. It invites visitors to go hiking and cycling, and offers opportunities for boating, sailing and surfing. You can choose between activities on foot or by bike and the water sports listed here.

As a different kind of attraction, the sauna and wellness world at the Caprima leisure pool is part of the wider Dingolfing-Landau destination. It has been freshly renovated and certified as a “Premium Facility” by the German Sauna Association.
