Goldbach offers travelers a variety of options: trails for hiking and running, swimming pools with different seasonal conditions, and cultural sites. You can tailor your choice of activities during your stay to suit your interests in exercise, swimming or architecture. The outdoor pool is seasonal; the indoor pool allows you to swim in winter, too. The wider Aschaffenburg destination offers additional cycling and hiking options.

Hiking and Running Trails in Goldbach

Five Spessartbund and ASP trails run through Goldbach’s municipal area. There are also three local hiking trails, a running route maintained by TV-Goldbach, and a local connecting path from the center to the main road. The available routes offer different ways to get around and find your way: hiking, running, and a route explicitly connecting two points. The connecting path has a different purpose from the hiking and running trails. When choosing a route, you can first consider which type suits your stay.

Swimming Pools for Different Seasons

Goldbach’s outdoor pool has large pools and two water slides; it is open seasonally. The indoor pool allows you to swim in winter, too. Its sports pool is 16.33 meters long and 9 meters wide, with four lanes. The two swimming options thus differ both in season and in pool type: large outdoor pools with slides, and an indoor sports pool with four lanes. Check the indoor pool’s current opening status before your trip. Goldbach’s Waldschwimmbad also offers opportunities for relaxation and sport.

Church and Attractions

The Catholic parish church of St. Nicholas at Weidenbörnerstraße 1 is a Neo-Romanesque basilica dating from 1895. It is associated with a polygonal war memorial chapel. The church offers a specific point of interest for anyone interested in sacred architecture and architectural history. The Friedensmeile is also one of Goldbach’s attractions. Together, these local landmarks represent cultural interests distinct from the hiking and swimming options.

Cycling and Hiking in the Wider Aschaffenburg Destination

The cycling and hiking options in the wider Aschaffenburg destination can be distinguished by their individual profiles. The family-friendly MainRadweg runs through the Main valley in the Aschaffenburg district and is well signposted. The signposted Kahltal-Spessart cycle route passes through the district’s landscapes. More challenging are the four signposted Bikewald-Spessart routes in the eastern High Spessart area of the district. These offer a range of cycling options: a family-friendly route, a scenic route, and cross-country trails for more demanding rides. Check local trail conditions before setting out on the cross-country routes.

Hiking routes also vary in scale: Spessart trails 1, 2 and 3 pass through the Aschaffenburg district and have been awarded the German Hiking Association’s “Quality Trail Wanderbares Deutschland” designation four times. The Eselsweg is a multi-day tour in the district. There are also more than 30 cultural hiking trails created by the Archaeological Spessart Project. For cycling tours, the “Denk mal – Rad mal” app offers cycling experiences in nature, accompanied by stories, quizzes and information about attractions. Check the availability of the app and its digital content in advance.

Regional culinary highlights include Franconian specialties and Äppelwoi from local cider presses. Numerous restaurants and hotels in the Aschaffenburg district serve these offerings; you can check the selection at individual establishments before dining.
