Two circular routes, the parish church of St. Anna and Mosisgreut Castle give a trip to Vogt a variety of highlights. For planning, it is worth comparing the routes: Vogt V6 is 4.97 kilometres long and listed as a circular hike with a duration of one hour and 30 minutes. At 8.36 kilometres, the Vogt Sun Trail V8 is the longer route; in Moser, there is an option to shorten it to around 5.4 kilometres. Vogt’s hiking trails also feature natural monuments, as well as cultural attractions that can be considered independently of the route comparison.

Hiking trails: V6 and the Vogt Sun Trail

Vogt V6 is an easy circular hike. The route runs entirely on paved paths and is considered easy to walk in all weather conditions. Between Reich and Eggen, there is a view across Kremmelsmösle towards Vogt. At 4.97 kilometres and a duration of one hour and 30 minutes, this route can be assessed in terms of distance and time required.

The Vogt Sun Trail V8, also rated as easy, leads from Le-Mayet-Platz through Vogt towards the edge of the Altdofer Wald forest. Along the way, there are views towards Wolfegg, Rötenbach and Achtal. The circular hike is 8.36 kilometres long. If you prefer a shorter option, the route can be shortened in Moser to around 5.4 kilometres by taking the footpath and cycle path along the L324 directly to Vogt. This gives you two different route lengths to choose from for the Sun Trail; the shorter distance is an approximate figure.

The landscape can also be explored on a regional scale: the Waldburg Region has an extensive network of hiking and cycling trails through varied terrain. Its Water Route passes quiet lakes, moorland and lively streams. In Vogt, numerous natural monuments lie along the hiking trails. Check the conditions on the relevant regional trails before setting out.

Church, castle and local traditions

The present-day parish church of St. Anna in Vogt was consecrated on 16 June 1837 and built in the Finanzkammer style. The high altar features Baroque decorative elements and putti from the 18th century. The ceiling paintings “The Annunciation” and “St. Cecilia” were painted by Otto Traub of Zwiefalten in 1908. St. Anna also has a bell dating from 1623, which came from Urspring Abbey. The different dates mark distinct historical points of reference: the consecration of the present-day church, the Baroque elements and the later ceiling paintings.

Mosisgreut Castle is said to have originated more than 800 years ago, on the road from Vogt to Hannober in the district of Ravensburg. The complex comprises a castle-like residence, a chapel and a barn. Another cultural feature of Vogt is the tradition of decorating Easter eggs. Together, these themes show different aspects of the town’s history and local customs, though they need not date back to the same period.

A cultural highlight in Ravensburg

Ravensburg is the wider travel destination. The Humpis Quarter Museum there opened in July 2009. Its permanent exhibition spans five buildings in a late-medieval residential quarter. The museum offers regular public guided tours, as well as individually bookable tours for school classes, children and adults. If a tour fits your travel plans, check the booking details in advance.
