Grésy-sur-Aix can be explored through two clearly distinct themes: trails between the hamlets and traces of its history. For planning your outing, there is a network of marked trails and several clearly described destinations – from the viewpoint near the Grotte des Fées to the former rack railway.

Hiking trails between the hamlets

Les Sentiers de Grésy comprises 33 kilometres of marked hiking trails and paths connecting the hamlets. For a specific route, the Sentier du Tour des Hameaux provides precise planning information: it is six kilometres long, has an elevation gain of 150 metres and takes approximately two hours. Distance, elevation gain and approximate walking time give you different points of reference when matching the scope of this outing to the time you have available.

Starting from the Chef-Lieu, the trail connects several hamlets in Grésy-sur-Aix. These include Les Bogeys, Les Combes, Les Ganets, Le Tillet, Donfarco, Les Fillards, Les Choseaux, Chauland and Le Gent. The trail markers begin at the North Cemetery car park. For orientation, both the hamlets listed and the starting point of the marked route are therefore relevant. The larger network and this route with its specific figures answer different questions: one describes the overall extent of the marked trails, while the other details a specific route with information on time and elevation.

Cave, viewpoint and canyon

The trail to the Grotte des Fées leads through the wooded slopes of Corsuet to the cave. From the cave, a viewpoint overlooks Lac du Bourget and the Baie de Grésine. The trail thus combines a specific destination with views of two named landscape features. If you choose your hike based on its destination, this offers a different way to plan than using the distance and time details for the Sentier du Tour des Hameaux.

For another nature experience, the Gorges du Sierroz offer a freely accessible walking path along the canyon. Two cantilevered walkways are part of the path. The difference between the options is clear: the cave and viewpoint are the focus at the Grotte, while the walking path in the Gorges follows the canyon. This lets you choose between these described destinations when planning, without combining the trails into a single circuit.

Historic traces in the village

One route also leads to a historic site: the Route Grésy-Mouxy leads to Gare de Mouxy station and recalls the former rack railway, which climbed to Station du Revard until 1937. The year refers to the former railway line and indicates how long it ran up to the station. Grésy-sur-Aix church offers a different historical reference point: its foundations date from the 12th century.

Smaller structures add to these historic sites. The Oratoire Saint Joseph on Route du Revard was cleaned and repainted. The washhouse near the station received a new roof, and its basin and beams were painted. On a walk through Grésy-sur-Aix, you can take in different aspects of local history: a former railway connection, the church foundations, and details of the oratory and washhouse. Together with the hiking trails described, they offer a choice of marked routes, a destination with a view and architectural heritage – each with its own details and focus.
