Belle-Plagne lies at an altitude of 2,050 metres and is entirely designed as a pedestrian resort. In winter, access to the La Plagne ski area takes centre stage; in summer, activities include walks and mountain biking. There is also Savoyard-inspired architecture and a wellness centre. The resort therefore offers seasonal highlights that are easy to distinguish when choosing where to stay.
Skiing and winter activities
From Belle-Plagne, you can access the La Plagne ski area, with 225 kilometres of pistes at altitudes between 1,250 and 3,080 metres. The Roche de Mio gondola is directly accessible and takes you to the Bellecote Glacier. The Belle-Plagne ski area is also connected to Plagne BellecĂ´te; from there, links lead to Plagne Centre, Champagny-en-Vanoise and Montchavin-les-Coches. Lift and ski links are subject to the season and snow conditions. Take this into account when planning your trip and check operating information for your travel dates.
Freestyle enthusiasts will find a snowpark in Belle-Plagne with two freestyle zones. Operations here are also seasonal. Another winter activity is guided snowshoeing on snowy trails: the ESF programme offers outings from Sunday to Friday, including themed tours. At the end of the week, a more challenging tour is offered, taking you to discover the Alps from the summit of Mont St Jacques. Check dates, availability and meeting-point details for your chosen season.
Architecture and character
Belle-Plagne’s architectural design draws on Savoyard tradition and was created by architect Michel Bezançon. The resort is considered a fourth-generation resort. Traditional materials such as stone, wood and slate were used in its design; the two-part roofs echo a style typical of chalets. Alongside the sporting activities, these details give the resort its own distinctive architectural character.
Summer trails and excursions
In summer, Belle-Plagne is a starting point for walks and mountain biking. The Balcon route heads towards Dou du Praz and is accessible with a 4x4 all-terrain pushchair; conditions may vary. The Bourtes via ferrata can also be tackled from Belle-Plagne. Its difficulty is rated AD to D. Availability depends on conditions and the scheduled guided tours.
The Boucle de Roche de Mio starts at the upper Belle-Plagne car park, next to the Les Balcons residence. The route passes Lac des Blanchets; ibex may be spotted at Roche fendue, but sightings are not guaranteed. A summer outing from Belle-Plagne can also take you to the summit of Roche de Mio, where you can enjoy panoramic mountain views. Trail conditions may change.
Wellness and practical information
Les Bains de Belle Plagne is a 1,500 m² wellness centre overlooking the alpine landscape. Its facilities include a heated outdoor water circuit with water features and swimming elements, including fountains, a counter-current channel and massage jets.
