Régnié-Durette offers several distinct highlights: a former railway line, trails to vineyard slopes and viewpoints, church architecture, and wine visits. For your planning, it’s worth deciding first what kind of outing you want. A route between two places, an option with views, and a vineyard tour each offer a different focus. This lets you arrange experiences according to your interests rather than treating them as a single itinerary.

Trails through Régnié-Durette

The Voie verte du Beaujolais crosses Régnié-Durette along an 11 km former railway line between Saint-Jean-d’Ardières and Beaujeu. Its length and named endpoints provide a clear framework for planning; its former railway course distinguishes this route from the other options described.

The 9.5 km Circuit le village is an alternative on the “Autour des deux clochers” circular route. It leads to vineyard slopes, notable buildings and scenic viewpoints. For cycling, three bike loops start from the Voie verte and explore the valley on quiet roads. This gives you different types of routes to choose from: the former railway line, the option with vineyards and viewpoints, or bike loops on roads.

Churches and historic buildings

The church with two bell towers in Régnié-Durette was built between 1867 and 1895 to plans by architect Pierre Bossan. Two identical grilles in the church have been listed as movable cultural property since 30 June 1988. Here, a church building with clearly documented dates meets an equally precisely dated detail of its furnishings.

If you would like to visit the church, ask for the key at the Multiservices shop or at the Caveau. Check practical access arrangements in advance, as local procedures may change. Domaine de la Grange Charton is classified as a historic monument. In its courtyard, visitors can discover traditional winegrowers’ homes. The estate is also designated as private property, so check the courtyard access conditions before visiting.

Wine and other interests

Fishing is possible at Étang de la Carelle. Local access rules may change, so it is a good idea to check the conditions before your visit. This offers another activity alongside the trails and cultural and historical sites.

The wine experiences also have different focuses. Domaine de la Ronze offers tastings of Beaujolais Crus; cellar tours are available. Arrange the details before you arrive. At Domaine Striffling, the visit takes you through the vineyards and introduces you to the work involved in tending them. It ends with a tasting of six of the principal wines, including Chardonnay, Régnié and Morgon.

Plan your stay

First, consider which of these activities you want to shape your trip. This helps you focus your accommodation search on what you actually plan to do while keeping the relevant visiting conditions in mind.
