In Feyzin, a variety of hiking trails meet attractions centred on the fort and local culture. For planning purposes, you can choose between an easy loop on the Plateau des Grandes Terres, a circuit around the fort with the option to extend it, and a long-distance trail. There is also a heritage centre, an educational farm and a concert venue.

Hiking trails between the plateau and the fort

The Sentier des Alouettes is an easy 5.3-kilometre circular route with 22 metres of elevation gain. It starts at Chemin sous le Fort and is accessible by bus route 60 to the Sous le Fort stop. Check the latest route and trail information before setting out, as public transport details may change.

The trail is in an Espace naturel sensible on the Plateau des Grandes Terres. This protected area is characterised by the presence of skylarks, small mammals and amphibians. The name Sentier des Alouettes also reflects the landscape: it comes from the skylark, the bird species that nests there most frequently. The loop thus connects a specific trail with a natural area whose name and wildlife are closely linked.

Another option is the Tour du Fort: this loop is just over two kilometres long and follows a wooded path through 26 hectares of municipal woodland. It can be extended across the Plateau des Grandes Terres, and you can finish by entering the Fort de Feyzin. These details distinguish this route from the specifically designated Sentier des Alouettes: here, an extension across the plateau is possible.

On a different scale, the GR®169 is a 170-kilometre long-distance trail that ends at Feyzin station. So, alongside a manageable loop and a circuit that can be extended, there is also a much longer hiking route. The trail that best suits your stay depends above all on whether you have a set loop or a long-distance trail in mind.

The fort and its attractions

Grandes Terres en Fête takes place every year at the Fort de Feyzin. The programme combines walks, events, workshops, a producers’ market and activities for visitors to discover. If you’re planning to attend the festival, check the latest dates.

La Mini Ferme de Justin, an educational farm with miniature animals, is located in the fort’s moats. As opening hours vary by season, check them before your trip. This attraction offers something different from the hiking trails, focusing on the animals and the farm’s educational activities.

Culture in Feyzin

Le Glacis is a heritage centre that presents the history of Feyzin and its fort. Explanations, illustrations and historical objects make the development of these two subjects the focus of a visit. If you’re planning to visit the centre, check the programme and opening hours before your trip.

L’Épicerie Moderne is a concert venue with a capacity of up to 750 spectators and has held the SMAC label since 2018. Its cultural education programme includes musical and visual arts experiments, music video production, meetings with artists, performances, educational concerts and discovery tours of the concert venue for pupils and teachers. Activities vary by season. In this way, the venue complements Le Glacis’s focus on history with music and artistic practice.
