Thodure offers several specific ways to enjoy a stay: the Cyclotourisme en Bièvre-Valloire cycling tour passes through the village on its return leg, another route starts at the church, and Relais Cyné welcomes visitors for a picnic or a stopover at the bivouac. There are also products from beekeeping and farming, a history of mills, and a Natura 2000 protected area. You can therefore choose whether to focus your trip on routes, time outdoors, local products or the history of the landscape.

Cycling Tour and Route Starting at the Church

The Cyclotourisme en Bièvre-Valloire cycling tour passes through Thodure on its return leg. The Thodure et ses collines route is a separate route that starts at Thodure church. This means there are two distinct route connections: Thodure as a village on the return leg of a cycling tour, and as the starting point for another route. When planning your stay, you can decide which of these connections matters most to you.

Picnics and Stopovers at Relais Cyné

Relais Cyné de Thodure offers a practical option for your stay: visitors can have a picnic there or stop over at the bivouac. Facilities include a picnic table, a horse hitching rail, a shelter, water and toilets. The Relais answers a different planning question from the routes: it is about how to spend a stopover, while the route information describes how Thodure connects to the routes.

Honey, Farm Shop and Farm Produce

La Ruche des Miellines offers educational visits for children and adults on request. The apiary produces various types of honey, royal jelly, honey sweets and gingerbread. La Ruche des Miellines also runs a farm shop selling products from the region: honey, herbal teas, cured meats, wines, juices for tasting, flour, local beers, snails, cheese and yoghurt. When planning your visit, you can take into account two different interests: a requested educational visit or the farm shop and its selection of local products.

La Thoduroise offers another agricultural focus. The farm produces green asparagus and seasonal strawberries, and sells its produce directly from the farm; access is free. As seasonal opening details may change, check them before your visit.

Mill History and Natura 2000 Protected Area

The landscape’s history includes the former water supply for Thodure’s mills: they were fed by a canal running from the Grand Etang des Moulins. This body of water is now called Étang de la Femme. The canal and mills are part of the area’s former use; the pond’s current name differs from its historical name.

Part of the Thodure area lies within the Natura 2000 protected area “étangs, landes, vallons tourbeux humides et ruisseaux à écrevisses de Chambaran,” a special protection area with the designation FR 8201726. Its designation was established by a decree in 2015. The protected-area designation applies to part of the Thodure area.
