Get to know Pressins through its waterways, forests and architectural history. The Ruisseau de la Corbassière flows through the town, while the Bièvre, a tributary of the Rhône, rises here. There are also hiking trails, a waterfall upstream on the Corbassière, and the highly visible Church of Saint-François de Sales. This lets you decide in advance whether to focus on water and forests, a specific hike, or culture and local history.

Waterways, forest and waterfall

The two waterways have different connections to Pressins: the Ruisseau de la Corbassière flows through the municipality; the Bièvre rises here and flows into the Rhône as a tributary. The names of the ZNIEFF areas in Pressins also point to different natural environments: “Boisements humides du ruisseau de la Corbassière” and “Forêts riveraines des ruisseaux des Rajans, du Caron et de la Combe Pigna”. The first name refers to wet woodlands along the Corbassière, the second to riparian forests along the Rajans, Caron and Combe Pigna streams. Follow the Ruisseau de la Corbassière upstream to reach a waterfall surrounded by lush vegetation.

Hikes with different highlights

The municipal trail descriptions list four hikes whose features help you choose a specific route:

  • The Pressins Nord hike passes through the forests of Correy and Couvas and along the Bièvre.
  • Pressins Sud includes a forest path through the forests of Couvers and Les Perelles.
  • Entre Pressins et Saint Jean d’Avelanne passes by the Ruisseau de la Corbière.
  • Pressins–La Corbière offers forest scenery and a viewpoint.

For a route along the Bièvre, Pressins Nord is the right choice; Pressins–La Corbière specifically mentions a viewpoint. Pressins Sud, by contrast, highlights a forest path through two named woodlands. The municipal descriptions of these four hikes are dated 3 January 2021. Check trail conditions locally before setting out.

The Trans’ Vals du Dauphiné hiking route also passes through Pressins. On the Circuit vélo: La Vaulserre cycle route, Pressins is reached after 15 kilometres. The “Les Légendes Locales” mountain bike loop also runs through Pressins. These routes broaden the options to include hiking, cycling and mountain biking; the details of the four hikes vary, highlighting forests, waterways, streams and viewpoints.

Church and local culture

The Church of Saint-François de Sales stands on a sparsely populated rise and is visible from afar. It was rebuilt in the 19th century using rammed earth, also known as pisé. Two distinct aspects of the church therefore stand out: its location on the rise and the construction method used in its rebuilding.

For the 2026 edition, the Pré en Bulles festival is set in Pressins, in the Isère département, in the heart of a chestnut forest. Another local cultural connection dates back to 2021: at an exchange of rootstocks and scions in Pressins, the late-ripening apple variety “pomme tardive de Pressins” was highlighted as a variety brought back into cultivation. This adds a specific connection to the history of a local apple variety to the architectural and nature themes.
