Saint-Eusèbe lies in the hills north of the Albanais, at an average elevation of 566 metres. The municipality offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains; in suitable weather, Mont Blanc may also be visible. The general views of the surrounding mountains are distinct from the explicitly weather-dependent view of Mont Blanc. For geographical orientation, Saint-Eusèbe is roughly halfway between Rumilly and Épagny/Sillingy. The municipality is about ten minutes from each of these places; traffic may affect the actual journey time. The time given is therefore an estimate for planning, not a fixed duration.

Trails and activities

There are three different ways to distinguish the activities: a Nordic walking route, a trail across a southern plateau through two municipalities, and a mountain bike network. For the trails, the landscape and route help put them in context; for mountain biking, the network’s size and number of routes are important details. This makes it possible to distinguish the offerings by their respective descriptions rather than treating them as a single type of trail.

Nordic walking and the Trail des Féodières

The Nordic walking route of the Trail Panoramic de l'Albanais begins by crossing fields and forests and is suitable for participants of all ages. Its description identifies the activity, the start of the route and the age group it is intended for. The Trail des Féodières crosses the southern plateau of Bettes and passes through the municipalities of Saint-Eusèbe and Vaulx. It therefore runs through more than one municipality. While fields and forests are mentioned at the start of the Nordic walking route, the plateau and two municipalities are the focus of the Féodières route. The organiser may revise course details between editions. If you are planning to take the Féodières route, check the description for the relevant edition.

Mountain bike network in the Albanais

For mountain biking, Saint-Eusèbe is connected to the Site VTT-FFC de l'Albanais. The network covers 430 kilometres and comprises 20 routes, which are marked and maintained year-round; routes head towards Saint-Eusèbe. The two figures describe different things: 430 kilometres is the total size of the network, while 20 is the number of routes it contains. The kilometre figure therefore refers to the network, not to a single ride. Unlike the individually named Nordic walking and Féodières routes, the mountain biking offering is described as a network with multiple routes.

Rural character and Thusel

The municipal presentation, updated on 11 October 2023, describes Saint-Eusèbe as a rural municipality with 634 inhabitants according to the latest census and no shops. The population figure is explicitly based on the latest census. The hamlet of Thusel is a local cultural point of interest and is highlighted as part of Saint-Eusèbe’s heritage. Alongside its rural character and trail offerings, the municipality therefore also has a named heritage site.
