In Praz-Sur-Arly, experiences vary by activity and season: at the swimming lake, swimming and water sports are separate, alongside mountain activities and things to discover in the village. To plan your trip, you can first consider which of these themes you want to shape your stay.
Mountain Ride, Themed Trail and Activities
The CrĂŞt du Midi chairlift reaches an altitude of more than 1,700 metres in ten minutes. As the lift operates seasonally, check its operating schedule before you travel. The Sentier des Contrebandiers offers a different way to experience the mountains: a comic book serves as a route guide for a mountain treasure hunt. This gives you a choice between a mountain ride with a specific journey time and a themed trail. Access arrangements may vary, so check the current conditions before your visit.
Praz-Sur-Arly has ten signposted mountain biking routes. Check current route information before setting off, as the route options may change. Another option is Parc Aventures, with four courses, each featuring 12 to 15 stations. As this attraction is seasonal, check opening dates and booking requirements in advance.
The history of skiing is also part of local life: Praz-Sur-Arly's first mechanical uphill transport system was built in the 1938–39 season as the Monte-pente de Combe Noire.
Swimming Lake and Water Activities
The swimming lake is divided into two areas: one swimming area is free and open to everyone, and is supervised by lifeguards; the other is designated for water sports. As the facility is seasonal, check opening dates and supervision arrangements before your visit. Praz Lac Aventures has a large inflatable water park. You can also rent paddleboards there and go out on the calm water. For these seasonal water activities, it is advisable to check operating conditions and availability in advance.
Art, Market and Village Life
Mini-Golf artistique des Belles combines designed courses with art: its 18 holes feature around 20 works of Art Brut. It opens seasonally, so check the dates. A weekly market takes place in the church square, with products including cured meats, cheese and honey. The seasonal market schedule should also be checked in advance. In its 34th edition, the Montgolfiades Internationales was a hot-air balloon festival in Praz-Sur-Arly that ran over a weekend.
Getting Around in Summer
In summer, a free shuttle connects the free car park at the mountain lifts with the swimming lake, Les Belles leisure area, the hamlet of La Tonnaz and the village centre. These destinations are included in the local transport network. Check the current operating days and stops before your trip.
Plan Your Stay to Suit You
This distinction helps you tailor your trip to your interests. Keep your travel dates in mind, as several of the activities mentioned, as well as the shuttle, operate seasonally.
