The village, scenery and hikes

Saint-Hippolyte-le-Graveyron lies on the plain at the foot of Graveyron Hill, between the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux. The small church is one of the local landmarks around which community life is organised. The landscape and community life thus provide two concrete points of reference for getting your bearings in the village. Visitors can also climb Graveyron Hill. The hill’s name also appears in the hiking routes: one circuit goes around Graveyron, while another is called “Le Rocher de Rocalinaud par le Graveyron”.

The easy circular hike around Graveyron starts in Saint-Hippolyte-le-Graveyron, is 7.8 km long and has an elevation gain of 220 metres. It offers views of the Dentelles de Montmirail, the Carpentras plain, the RhĂ´ne Valley, the Vaucluse Mountains, the Alpilles and the Petit Luberon. For planning your day, the distance, elevation gain and easy rating are useful points of reference. Check current trail conditions locally before setting out.

Another circular route is called “Le Rocher de Rocalinaud par le Graveyron” and also starts in Saint-Hippolyte-le-Graveyron. It follows pleasant forest tracks, a few paths and quiet country roads, and is considered to have no significant difficulties. From there, views to the south take in the Carpentras plain, the Rhône Valley and the Alpilles; to the northwest, the Dentelles de Montmirail; and to the east, Mont Ventoux. The routes offer different points of comparison: on the Graveyron circuit, the distance and elevation gain provide concrete guidance; on the Rocalinaud route, you can take the surface and direction of the views into account when deciding. Check current trail conditions and signage before setting out.

Cycling and wine

The “Au pied des Dentelles” cycling route has an unpaved section between Caromb and Saint-Hippolyte-le-Graveyron. This may require a little more technical skill, and surface conditions can change with the seasons. Unlike the circular hikes, this route includes an unpaved section that is also a factor when assessing the technical difficulty. Take it into account when planning and check current conditions before setting off.

Château Juvenal produces organic AOC Ventoux wine and organic AOC Muscat de Beaumes de Venise wine in Saint-Hippolyte-le-Graveyron. The château also produces olive oil. In summer, it offers guided cellar tours with commentary, introductory wine-tasting workshops, food and wine pairings, and masterclasses, all by reservation. The connection with wine is reflected both in its products and in seasonal visitor experiences; reservations are part of planning tours and activities. Check the current dates before your trip and reserve your chosen summer activity.
