A north-facing plateau at around 1,400 metres, a rural landscape and a wide range of winter and cultural experiences define Puy-Saint-Vincent. When choosing a hotel, it is worth first considering whether you want to focus your stay mainly on the alpine ski area, the trails or the historic sites. The time required also varies: an easy cultural loop and access to Narreyroux are two different route options.

A landscape of hamlets and rock faces

Puy-Saint-Vincent brings together a rural patchwork of landscapes comprising hamlets, cultivated terraces, meadows, irrigation channels and wooded pastures. It also includes a variety of habitats: deciduous and coniferous forests, heathland, grassland, scree slopes and rock faces. The Plateau de Tournoux is considered a preserved natural and landscape heritage site within Puy-Saint-Vincent. Human-shaped terraces and channels thus sit alongside forests, heathland, grassland and rocky landscapes as distinct facets of the area.

Winter activities and bike park

The alpine ski area has 35 pistes with a total of 75 kilometres of runs. The Nordic area adds 30 kilometres of groomed cross-country ski trails and 30 kilometres of snowshoe trails. Snow conditions, operations, grooming and access may vary seasonally; check conditions for your travel dates if you plan to spend your days on the snow.

There are also specific figures for mountain biking: the bike park covers almost 900 metres of vertical elevation and has eight trails. Two detachable six-seater chairlifts serve the mountain-bike trails. Le Panoramic has a synthetic ice rink and a bouldering wall. These activities differ considerably and can be considered as separate focuses when planning your trip.

Trails and time required

The very easy Sentier du Patrimoine is a 5.3-kilometre circular trail that takes 1 hour and 30 minutes. It is signposted between Les Prés and Saint-Romain; information panels explain the area’s human heritage. The Narreyroux circular route No. 13 starts in Les Prés at the roundabout at Station 1400 and heads towards Le Villaret.

To reach Narreyroux, an almost level path leads through the forest from the Station 1600 car park; the former hamlet can be reached in less than an hour. Trail conditions may vary by season. Narreyroux is a former hamlet with alpine pasture farming. A hut there was once used by the shepherd at the beginning and end of the summer grazing season.

The time estimates apply to different outings: 1 hour and 30 minutes for the easy Sentier du Patrimoine loop and less than an hour to reach Narreyroux from the Station 1600 car park. This comparison helps you gauge the time required without treating the two routes as equivalent.

Chapels, a church and historic traces

The Chapelle Saint-Vincent is listed as a French historic monument. Its murals are largely preserved and restored; the painted interior decoration dates from the mid-15th century. The Église Sainte-Marie-Madeleine des Prés is known for its sundials. Together, these sites offer different points of interest for a stay that takes in history as well as landscapes and activities.

Plan your stay and hotel around your interests

Consider how much time you want to set aside for a loop or a route to a destination, and which activities suit your travel dates. Then compare the specific details of each accommodation. This way, your choice is based on your planned itinerary and the actual details of what is on offer.
